This was actually my second time staying at Kyo no Ondokoro, and it still blew me away. The first time I visited, my family was awed. This time, I decided to bring my parents along, and they fell in love with it too! The house is honestly huge - big enough to comfortably host two whole families, but even with just the three of us, we felt it was worth every penny. If you appreciate a mix of history and modern comfort, you’ll love this place. It’s a beautifully restored traditional Japanese townhouse that actually won a major design award. They did an incredible job keeping that classic Japanese style while making it feel totally fresh and refined. Everything from the interior design and the decor to the stunning little garden and the traditional tatami room is just amazing. The location is another huge plus. It’s tucked away in a quiet, authentic neighborhood filled with local shops and cozy izakayas, so we get a real taste of local life. At the same time, we are only a few minutes of walking distance away to tons of highly rated restaurants, the Imperial Palace, and the beautiful Kamogawa River. Running in the Imperial Palace and along side the Kamogawa River in the early morning is a mesmerizing experience. And of course, the staff there has always been friendly and helpful. I can’t recommend this place enough.

We loved the beautiful authentic machiya! You feel like you have travelled back in time but with the comfort of the modern world.

I don’t like the check in procedure. You have to go to a hotel first , get a passcode , only then you can go to the house . And nobody helps you with luggage.

遠方からの研修の宿泊に利用しました。研修後にゆっくり話ができること，それでいて，ツイン，トリプル仕様で、ホテルに泊まるプライベートも確保でき、京都らしさを満喫できるお部屋が好評でした。

特にありません。近くの銭湯や食事処，地元のおすすめマップがあるといいなあと思いました。
