"Excepcional. Una experiència molt recomanable."

10.0

"Traditional and relaxing place to stay whilst soaking up what Hakone has to offer."

8.0

The room was spacious, very clean and the perfect place to relax. We especially loved the private onsen attached to the room. The free, unlimited drinks was a nice touch.

We enjoyed the traditional breakfast and dinner but do think it could benefit from less fish and more meat or vegetable options.

"Nice room, bath, and food."

8.0

The room was very nice and spacious, and the baths were good and not crowded when I went, they have an inside and an outside one. Food was amazing and definitely worth booking dinner and breakfast. The area is definitely worth one or two days.

The price is high, but that was true for all places in the area, not only this one. The location is not the most convenient but at least it is not too far from a train station (if you don't mind taking stairs).

"Gorgeous little part of Hakone"

10.0

We really enjoyed this place, I loved the location it was so pretty. We enjoyed going to Forest Adventure in the morning and then followed by booking a private onsen and lunch next door. Perfect location for family wanting to do this. The train station is gorgeous. Food was fantastic and lovely staff.

There was no option for kids meal but my daughter ate rice and sashmi, so she was OK

"Lovely traditional property, very relaxing."

10.0

We loved staying here, the highlight of the stay was the breakfast and dinner service! To eat the traditional Japanese way was such a unique experience. To pay for a service like this in Australia would cost hundreds so overall the cost of the stay in our eyes was great value! We did a lot of walking, so to be able to retreat in the onsite onsen was so nice. Warning if you can’t walk much there, it is on a steep property, so to walk to the train station is a lot of stairs. Also consider this with luggage we recommend getting a taxi from the train station, it will drop you straight to your door.

"Nice short stay with private onsen"

8.0

Booked a room with private onsen. The onsen faces the mountain so it felt like we were in nature while soaking. The kaiseki dinner was pretty good too. Not as exquisite as the higher-end ryokans but the food was nice, with free-flow alcohol.

Small matter but the room looked a little too modern so it didn't have the old-school ryokan charm we were looking for.

"Enjoyable"

7.0

We stayed for three nights and enjoyed the typical style of the house. The room was recently modernized. We enoyed a private bath tub on the balcony. Food was good. Personal is kind.

The problem was insufficient information how to get there with public transportation. Google maps proposed to take a train or bus to Tonosawa train or bus station (not identical). But from both spots rather steep stairs need to be used which is difficult with heavy luggage. The best way to get there is to take a short Taxi trip from Yumoto station. There is even a free (!) shuttle bus service from Yumoto station to Hakone Yuryo, a public Onsen just opposite of Hidamari Ichinoya, which runs every 20 min from 9 am to 4 pm.
