Hilton Garden Inn Budapest City Centre

This hotel had everything I needed. Blissfully quiet, despite me being opposite the lift and facing the street; I actually slept well from the first night, which never happens. The room was clean, spacious, well air-conditioned and contained a decent amount of storage. Comfy bed. Plenty of power points as well as some USB ports by the bed, good-sized safe and fridge. Wi-fi worked fine. There is a water dispenser near the lift on each floor, and two glass containers in the room that the hotel encourages you to take with you; I took a plastic bottle I'd brought with me as it was lighter, but used one of the glass ones to store water in the fridge. The bathroom (well, shower room) was also a decent size and in excellent condition, with easy-to-use fixtures (note: my shower controls were not by the shower head but near the other end) and even a radiator you can turn on if needed to dry items. The restaurant offered a wide selection of breakfast goods; if I had one tiny niggle, it's that the scrambled eggs always seemed to be at room temp, but I ate them anyway - well worth having. The bar offered a lovely chilled Prosecco. There's also a little café near reception that sells ice cream and suchlike, as well as a place to store your luggage before check-in and after check-out, in case you have time for a bit more sight-seeing. Speaking of sight-seeing - the location is perfect. Go left down the street and there's the Basilica; go right and there's the Opera House. The M3 metro is about 3 minutes' walk away and various bus stops and trams are also within walking distance. Finally, every staff member I encountered was friendly and helpful. This place was like an oasis of calm in the heart of the city and staying here was an absolute pleasure - would definitely return.
