Red Roof Inn Princeton - Ewing

We made the reservation one year ago because this was an high demand week. Upon arrival, the person at the front desk told us our reservation was cancelled (he admitted the hotel had overbooked) and when we had to rebook, the price almost doubled. The room was unclean and smelled strongly of smoke even though we booked a non-smoking room. We definitely will not stay there again and would not recommend this motel to anyone.

Took over an hour to get properly checked in. Once we went to our room we realized how unsafe the entire area felt. Signs everywhere stating they’re ‘not responsible for stolen property or damaged vehicles’. Men hanging outside of their doors chain smoking cigarettes. I ended up giving my key back to the front desk and booking a real hotel somewhere nearby. Huge inconvenience- I have no idea why Expedia would even have this “hotel” as an option.

Honestly there is not really much I can say I enjoyed or liked about my stay. I guess when the AC worked, it worked well.

I did not really have very high expectations going into this booking being that I was only paying $400 for four nights. I did expect bare minimum and small rooms, probably run down /well worn out outdated furniture. I had unfortunately a very late arrival at 3:00 a.m. on a friday. Immediately on entering the room I was skeeved out. The sections of war that were hard vinyl were sticky, and every edge that touched a wall had a three to four inch strip of dirt / filth built up. P the carpeted areas had fuzz and other debris all over them. Checking under the bed (because I have a dog who will eat things) it was very clear that no one had looked under that bed in weeks. There was dust and dirt all over, along with the material that covers the box spring shredded and hanging down. On every single wall there was evidence of previous inhabitants, unknown splatters, drips, stuff that looked like snot etc that had very obviously NEVER been attempted to be removed. The office chair included in the room had a large orange substance dripped down the back where you would sit and so much food / crumbs smashed into the seat and not cleaned that I did not even want to touch it. Every light switch / door handle was covered in grime from fingers. The bed skirts on the beds themselves also had drips or spills of some sorts on them that were never cleaned and actual physical material still there from whatever was spilled. The popcorn ceiling is in disrepair and has areas all over that are cracked and peeling away The single window shade on the window had some kind of white splatter all over it. The bedding itself was very clean and I reviewed thoroughly after the condition of the rest of the room. Due to the hour and having to be at a work function for 9:00 a.m., I settled for doing a quick sweep and scrub of the floor myself with a broom head I had in my vehicle & Clorox wipes.
