The Fortress Balumgala

Everything was perfect. The caretaker of the hotel took care of everything The food he prepared was delicious He ensured that we experienced the greatest comfort.

The place was beautiful, a little off-road and in the middle of nature. Perfect place to sit back and relax in between big Sri Lankan cities. So quiet and only sounds of nature. The host was super nice, making everything possible for us, bringing us to the most beautiful sunset spot (10 minute hike), preparing the best sri lankan food for dinner, arranging the breakfast table so we could have breakfast with the beautiful view, bringing us to the train station by tuktuk, … The rooms are cozy and the view from the rooms and balconys is incredible, highly recommended! We will definitely come back next time!

The sounds of the nature, great view, very helpful staff, comfortable beds, warm shower. Just a small heads up, the photos of the breakfast do not really reflect the reality, even though it was a tasty and big breakfast.

The Fortress Balumgala is located in a beautiful and quiet neighbourhood. However, it could be better maintained and managed. Under no circumstances should the guest be charged double the price for dinner because he arrived on a public holiday.

This is in a beautiful location! High up in the hills. The hotel is lovely. We arrived and waited for an hour or so. It seemsd abandoned and the telephone number was out of order. So we decided to leave and walk down the hill to find another hotel. So lucky for us we asked a man if he had a tuktuk and it turned out he worked at the hotel sometimes so took us back. Indika was incredile. He looked after us from start to finish. Made sure our rooms were kovely and clean. Brought us refreshments. Drove us to a restaurant in the evening for dinner. Made us a delicious breakfast in the morning. Indika made our stay a 10 out of 10 but I have to mark down for there being nobody there when we arrived.
