Villa Durante

Loved staying at Villa Durante, like travelling back in time. Everthing was well maintained, clean and friendly. Breakfast was excellent.

This is a unique place in walking distance to the excavations. Beautifully restored villa, huge living space and the welcoming hospitality of both Francesca and Theresa. We stayed an additional night.

Es war wieder wunderschön in der Villa Durante das Frühstück von Theresa hat wunderbar geschmeckt und Francesca hat uns ganz lieb willkommen geheißen. Im Viva Lo Re hat es wunderbar geschmeckt und Maurizio, Sarah, Anna und Valentina haben uns kulinarisch verwöhnt.

Beautiful old villa; loved the quirky doors. Ideal location, a short walk to the Herculaneum ruins and easy train or taxi ride to Pompeii or to Napoli. Host Francesca was very helpful with local restaurant recommendations; we particularly enjoyed the excellent restaurant Vive Lo Re across the street. She also recommended for us an outstanding private guide, Marily, who guided us through Pompeii one day and Herculaneum the next. She had an in-depth understanding of the history of the ancient towns and patiently answered our numerous questions; we particularly liked how she was able to point out interesting details we might have missed otherwise.

There was some traffic noise at night, to be expected of course, but we quickly got used to it. You should be aware that one of the rooms has the bed in a loft up a set of stairs.

This is such a beautiful hotel/BnB. It’s pure old school magic, with really high ceilings and original fixtures - the pictures looked almost too good to be true but it’s even more special in real life. Our room (family suite) was enormous, very comfortable and clean and the breakfasts were delicious. Francesca who does the breakfasts was super lovely and great with kids, and everyone else there was really friendly and helpful too. The location is great both for exploring the ruins at Ercolano and for getting into Naples easily. Can’t recommend this place highly enough and really hope to come back again.
