Saltvík Farm Guesthouse

Nice location, comfortable beds. Didn’t see any staff, except the lovely cleaner as we left.

It’s quaint right outside of town. We were there in October and drove through a blizzard (literally) and got there a little late so we didn’t see anyone but a cute little sticky with a room key with our name. The shared kitchen had everything needed to cook a nice meal from the grocery store just 1/2 mile away. We had room 4 which had a great picture window where we did see northern lights. Now it is a converted cow shed so not a typical hotel so go with mindset of a unique Iceland experience.

Note there was a blizzard and when we parked our car snow was up to our knees so wish we had better directions on where to park which was around the house and back.

If you’re looking for views of the Northern Lights, you won’t see them here because the facility has bright lights everywhere. We could not turn off the light outside our door and it lit up our room, even despite curtains. Dirty shower. No greeting from the hosts or goodbye. Not even coffee available.

We had an amazing stay at Saltvik farm! The property has stunning views and the rooms are in a converted cow barn. The room was quiet and cozy and had everything we needed. The staff at check-in were nice and the location is wonderful... right outside of town. This place will always be special to us as we got to see an incredible northern lights show for the first time. The lights were right outside the front door and we were the only ones around to fully enjoy the experience. Truly magical!!

No TV NO BREAKFAST we expected great breakfast as on reviews,it is neither yes or no breakfast on the booking page but clearly we read it is part of the amenities at another part,booking should oblige them to specifically state NO BREAKFAST no hot water in shower the morning we left We let the water run expecting it to get hot,the drain was not working adequately ended up with water in the room. No one bothered to meet us talk to us as is expected in a guesthouse We found our keys with a little note in a so called kitchen We expected to meet the owners socialize somewhat as in all other guesthouses we stayed They cannot even know we are the ones who came and took the keys No identification Potholes so bad if we did not have a jeep we will end up with a tow truck BAD EXPERIENCE DO NOT RECOMMEND
