Mauna Kea Beach Hotel, Autograph Collection

I think we've stayed at the Mauna Kea 15 or 20 times over the years it's one of our favorite places in the world. The best thing about it all honesty is the staff ... the people that work there are first class ,friendly ,gracious willing to help. However at this time we think the property looked a little rundown. I know we blamed Covid for a lot of things but I know in some of the hotels we've visited in the last six months hotels took the Covid downtime to spruce up their place ....nothing happened at Maunakea. The floors are a little scratched, the grounds a little uncapped the room is a little beat up ... At least one of the elevators was broken 11 of the 12 days we stayed there , latte machines in the restaurants broken every day we were there in every restaurant ... menus a little uninspiring. The beach area was fantastic as usual one of natures best. Hawaiian pokey at the beach bar was fabulous... The copper bar is pretty pitiful, of the three or four resorts We visited in Kona for dinners and cocktails the copper bar it was by far the worst. It needs to be completely redone it's just uncomfortable , un inviting , it's not much fun compared to the competition.. breakfast was one exception for the food is still delightful. I'm not sure how much is the food and how much is the view but it's still the best place to eat breakfast in Kona .

It’s a property with old time charms and elegant, somehow the staff remember your name and your preference. The property has the best crescent moon beach in Hawaii and the best place to have a cocktail or dinner and watch the sunset from your room or the different dining venue,

This resort is magnificent. It was pricey, but worth it. Im an architect and have designed hotels before and Mauna Kea is one of my favorite hotel designs out there. The beach is wonderful. So nice to have chairs and canopies. Seeing Manta Rey at night was super great. Food was good. Im a sucker for a breakfast buffet and i liked this one. The stores are convenient and nice. The beach restaurant can up its game. Most LA hotel pool side food is better. Luau was fun. Best hotel on Big Island by far.

Classic hotel with great grounds, beach, rooms, amenities, decor, and service. Sunsets, tradewinds, and stars. If you like the great beach resorts of a bygone time, this should be on your list. It's the sort of place you don't want to leave. Had an excellent stay. Highly recommended. Would most definitely stay again.

I love the Mauna Kea. We have been coming here for years. This time it was way too crowded. No beach chairs or towels already at nine am. All restaurants packed. We won’t come this time of year anymore. It still is beautiful and the staff are great. Just will come in fall or spring

Everything was great. Awesome beach! The bed was a little too soft for my back.
