I stayed at the Cambria in Houston in March during a work conference. The hotel is located in a really cool historic building, which gives it more character than a typical chain hotel. However, my experience ultimately fell short because of cleanliness and comfort issues. When I stepped into the shower, I immediately noticed hair stuck to the tile walls, which made me question how thoroughly the room had been cleaned overall. Unfortunately, by that point it was already late and I had unpacked and settled in for the evening, so I stayed the night and then checked out early the next morning to move to the Hilton Americas at my own expense because I wanted somewhere that felt cleaner and more reliable. The hallways were also very noisy at night. To be fair, this was during the World Baseball Classic, and it seemed like many guests were out celebrating and drinking, so I suspect the noise level may have been tied more to the event crowd than the hotel itself. I did not ask for a refund because I had not booked a non-refundable rate and ultimately chose to leave on my own. Staff interactions themselves were fine, but not particularly customer service friendly. The building is interesting, but cleanliness is too important for me to overlook.

It's a great experience every time I stay at The Cambria for business, and I have many guests, co-workers, and partners that I set-up here and they always love it! Great hotel, great staff, great location, it's the perfect place to stay when in downtown Houston!
