I had an absolutely fantastic experience at this guesthouse. Every aspect of my stay was excellent. The room was spotless and beautifully prepared, the facilities were top‑notch, and the atmosphere was peaceful and welcoming. The staff went above and beyond to ensure comfort and convenience, offering friendly and attentive service throughout. From check‑in to check‑out, everything exceeded expectations. Bastion House in Irene was an absolute gem. From the moment we arrived, it felt like stepping into a calm, beautifully curated oasis. Every detail has clearly been thought through. The room design was exceptional — a truly creative use of space. It felt both stylish and practical, with clever touches that made it feel luxurious without being overdone. The layout flowed effortlessly, and the finishes were elegant and warm. The staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming, striking that perfect balance between professionalism and genuine hospitality. You feel looked after without it being intrusive. Breakfast was outstanding — a generous selection of hot and cold options, all beautifully presented. And the barista coffee was genuinely excellent. The little chocolates on the beds were such a thoughtful touch. Overall, Bastion House feels like a peaceful retreat tucked away in Irene — refined, intimate, and memorable. We absolutely loved it.

What didn’t I like? Honestly — nothing. Every detail felt intentional and carefully considered. From the design choices to the hospitality and the dining experience, everything worked together seamlessly.

The luxuriousness and uniqueness of Bastion far exceeds the value that we paid. Rooms were beautiful, outdoor area and breakfast area were fantastic. All around a great place to stay in Pretoria.

Bastion House is totally unique and charming, stylish and earthy, and most of all, the staff are just really lovely. Don't expect the ordinary, boring standard shape of room, nor the cool distance of professional demeanour that you might be used to from 4- to 5-star hotels... This is the opposite, the architecture is fascinating and inspiring, and the engagement from the owners, management and staff is super friendly and warmly welcoming. I come here every time I am in Pretoria on business. Why change a winning team?
