Moonlight Homestay

I spent one month and this place and felt like home. The owners and the staff are lovely ! I pretty recommend it if you are travelling on a budget and looking a quite private room.

I was accommodated in the interior part of the homestay where there’s a kitchen that I think it doesn’t used it anymore. I would always pass by a lot of big basins and empty Gallons scattered and an empty mineral water bottles which accordingly, the owner doesn’t want to disposed it. There’s a dog tied up in front of my door. I charge my phone outside of my room, coz the outlet doesn’t work. There’s a lot of mosquitoes inside my room. But the things that I really don’t like with the said homestay is that the owner was rude. My first day was a dismay and I regret why I choose Moonlight Homestay when, I can afford to get a nice Hotel. The owner is selective or bias coz she favours and attend immediately to the needs of foreigners. I didn’t finish my stay in Moonlight coz I transferred Hotel on my 3rd day. I didn’t ask for a refund.

The place is a Dump! Not safe stairs broke on me and i broke my arm in 3 places, poisonous spiders everywhere

I had an amazing time at this homestay and was made to feel very welcome. The place is run by super friendly Vivian who shared lots of good local knowledge, helped arrange many things, and cooked delicious breakfasts. Her son does surfing lessons which I tried for the first time, and I can totally recommend him. They can also arrange very cheap motorbike rental. They have some friendly dogs and cats so if you are an animal lover this place would really suit you. The room was very clean and quiet in the evenings. I would be happy to recommend this place to others.

We were expecting for the breakfast but i think the post is out dated. The place was okay.

Very good home stay, a real family will be there to welcome you. Many meetings and good time spent at moonlight. Very affordable price, confortable room (air cond or fan) and good breakfast. I recommend a lot.

Probably this place is the most affordable accommodations there is in Siargao at Php 380 per night with breakfast. Given such price, one should not set his expectations that high. The room was a dorm type where there are 5 double deck beds. It is air-conditioned but not enough to cool the whole area. Mattress is average and you get 1 small pillow and a blanket. Although breakfast is free, variety is limited. You will almost have the same breakfast everyday. Coffee is free though and you can sip anytime of the day. Washroom is shared by everyone. Water becomes an issue when all take a shower at the same time. This usually happens when guests come back from their tour. Electricity fluctuates as experience by the whole island. Its location is off Gen Luna. You need to ride a habal-habal or tricycle to get to the main road. I do not recommend walking as you will be powdered with dust which is actually common in the inner roads of Siargao. Best option is to rent a moped. For first timers and on budget, I would recommend this place. You just have to be open when discussing details and itineraries with Ms Vivian, the proprietor. Would i come back? No. I would try different homestays.

The host is great and super friendly to the guest. This place is great for travelers that are on a budget. Its very affordable and the staff are friendly. You can also take surfing lessons and rent a motorbike. The price is worth it. It's a must Hostel.

I love the place, the people, the hospitality and the simplicity. Ate Vivian is very friendly and accommodating. The staff entertained all our concerns (meals, transportation, tour packages etc..) This is a one-stop shop for all true-blooded travelers who are traveling on a budget, they can give you tour packages based on your budget. We really saved a lot of money. The place is expanding so expect a lot of budget rooms for those who like to visit Siargao Island. I will come back here again and again.
