"Living Tuscan Style"

10.0

My daughter and I spent a week here the first of Oct. I am not sure we could have located this on our own! Luckily we had a friend who helped us locate Podere Mezzastrada since our Garmin would not take the longitude an latitude directions! We loved the rustic accommodations. As mentioned in other reviews, your view from your patio is hampered by trees. Your best views are from the pool area! The apartment was very clean and we felt very safe. You will receive a remote to open the gate for your parking lot and a key for your apartment. If you need help in english , the owner will call Suzanne and she can help you figure out your problem! The ceilings and floors are brick. The only negative is the noise that travels thru the ceiling from the apartment above you. The kitchen is well set up for meals, the bedroom and bath are large by European standards. Our unit had a utility sink and a drying rack so we could hand wash a few clothes for the other half of our journey. Our wifi was spotty. We had to go out to the edge of the patio for a signal. I am not sure if this is because of the rain or because we were on the far end of the hotel grounds. The location is a convenient drive to all of the major Tuscan towns! I would stay here again!

"A relaxing getaway"

10.0

Podere Mezzastrada is a wonderful "off the beaten path" accommodation. The facilities were clean and comftorable (just a note about the wifi: the wifi is only available outside and is not very strong). We made day trips to San Gimignano (approx 40 mins by car) & Chianti (approx 30 mins by car)

"Restful stay in Tuscan hills"

10.0

Stunningingly situated in the Tuscan hills. Rustic in looks but very well appointed with all you need for a self catering holiday. Lots of trattoria/osterie within easy reach. Lovely pool with wonderful views. Extremely helpful staff and very friendly. Couldn't fault it in any way as we had a very comfortable and relaxed stay

"Great Place, wonderfull people"

10.0

Stayed here May/June 2014. Great place to stay, wonderfull people working there. Everybody did the best they could to make our vacation worth wild. Certaldo is a perfect start to visit cities like Florence/Sienna or just a drive through the Tuscany countryside. The appartement was clean and cool, towels and linnen enough, there was a good hard bed, fine terras to enjoy the view and best of all enough hot water when taking a shower. Recommend Poderra Mezzastrada for everybody's vacation.

"Great rural experience"

10.0

Very beautiful place - small cute houses in greenery, privacy, great views, great service (grazie mille Susanne!), nice and cozy rooms, fresh bread every morning, great location on Tuscan hills (near to Firenze, San Gimignano, Chianti towns, Siena)... What else can you wish for? We received lots of tips and suggestions from dear Susanne for travelling around, eating outside etc.

"Rustic and lovely"

8.0

We had apartment #13 in the lower level. The apartment was great, comfortable, fully equipped and had a lovely rustic feel. Because the place is in the mountains we found quite a few crawling critters in our room and living room that we had to un-invite, aside from that it is a beautiful place surrounded by fruit trees, we had a tree of lovely cherries in our back yard :) Suzanne was extremely responsive and very helpful providing us with directions and information specially because we were arriving very late at night. This casa vacanze is perfect if you are planning on doing day trips to the towns in the Tuscany area. Lovely views, paths and a nice swimming pool. It is a little hard to find but once you reach it you will not be disappointed!

"A bucolic interlude"

10.0

Visiting Italy with a couple of friends for the Monza Formula1 race and the San Marino MotoGP race the following weekend, we had no accommodation arranged for the intervening 4 days. Largely guided by tripadvisor ratings we took a punt on Podere Mezzastrada, and what an inspired choice it proved to be. Mezzastrada is tucked away in the Chianti hills along narrow twisty roads and through villages where people could shake hands from their bedroom windows across the road that separated them. In fact its location off the beaten track gave our GPS conniptions. It takes full advantage of its position looking across valleys, cypress pines and vineyards, with the pool offering delightful vistas towards San Gimignano while enjoying the early autumn sunshine. A thunderstorm one evening further emphasised nature's variety in the Tuscan region. Its position allowed easy access to Siena, Firenze, Bologna and Maranello, as well as local wine tastings and the understandably lauded Osteria Casa di Chianti 5 minutes away. The two bedroom apartment with balcony was pleasant, clean and more than adequate for our purposes, and the young German lass at reception was as friendly and helpful as I've experienced in decades of travel. Highly recommended for kicking back and chilling out, or exploring further afield. I'm planning on returning in the near future with my partner without the distraction of fast cars and fast motorbikes!

"Very enjoyable stay... Great apartment"

8.0

Just enjoyed a fantastic week in apartment 16 with view to San Gimignano ... Nice and cool inside despite mid 30's outside. Pool a great asset. Totally agree to get groceries before arrival ... But there is a daily bread delivery for reasonable price. Most important for me... Bed firm, shower good. Nice to unpack into the drawers and forget the suitcase for a week. Susanne lovely and very helpful. Don't forget mozzie spray as there are a lot... Perhaps due to the disused pool under the pool. Fans in rooms but very very loud.

"Calm residence, helpful personal!"

8.0

We got a very nice n cozy little house with one master bedroom n our daughter got a bed sofa in the living which was very comfortable The pool was very clean n the view from it was very nice. Don't forgt to buy groceries before arriving if you are to have breakfast, we arrived at 6 on a Sunday n it was not easy to find a open shop near by. We drive like 20 to Poggibonsi to find a supermarket as everything was closed. Recommend to go to Casa chianti restaurant. The food is just amazing there

"On top of a hill with no view"

6.0

We had a six bed apartment for just the 2 of us with only one bathroom. This was very musty smelling as were the wardrobes. As this was self catering and no cleaning materials supplied we had to go to the local shops to buy products to freshen up the place. Whilst there is a great view of the valley and vineyards from the swimming pool area which is clean, the view from our apartment was obstructed by over grown trees, so in that respect we were disappointed. The apartment was well appointed with all the necessary equipment including a barbeque for self catering. The receptionist Susanne was however excellent and an asset to the business giving lots of useful advise.
