"Beautiful and welcoming!"

This was a last minute choice as we had already booked at another hotel, but then heard negative things about that hotel. We knew nothing about ‘Autograph’ hotels and knew even less about the Merriweather Lakehouse. We were in the area for the weekend to explore, and this hotel was recommended as a good replacement. We arrived in the late evening to be greeted very warmly at the desk. They couldn’t have been nicer and welcoming. From that moment through the rest of the weekend, we were treated wonderfully! We had an issue with the sink drain, and the front desk notified Oscar who took care of it quickly and completely. Other staff members who should be mentioned for their excellent professionalism in the world of hospitality were Jermaine, Kareem, and Trace (the restaurant manager - I think!) All demonstrated why this is such an outstanding place to stay. Also I should mention the grounds were beautiful with trails around the lake to walk. The location was great as it was easy to get to major roads for our exploring. We would highly recommend anyone staying in the Columbia-Ellicott City area to consider the Merriweather Lakehouse.

"5 star price; not a 5 star hotel "

This is a dressed up Marriott and a great option for a suburban stay. However, it is not worth $400 per night. For that price I would expect a more upscale experience. Minimal travel size toiletries are provided and no robes. We ordered room service and it was delivered in a to go paper bag and plastic containers. Worst of all the walls were paper thin. Our neighbor must have been ill and we heard them all night and morning. Overall it’s a nice place to stay, but the price doesn’t match the quality especially considering there is a Doubletree downtown for half the price.

I’m sorry, but a high-end hotel should offer feather pillows. For the half percent of people that have allergies to feathers your pillows were absolutely horrendous. Such a beautiful property but so completely uncomfortable to sleep. Do you want to be a high-end hotel offer high-end amenities, and one of those is a high-end feather pillow.
