Wichita Marriott

Three stars because the hotel itself was perfectly fine — clean room, comfortable bed, friendly staff, and overall what you would expect from a Marriott. But there was one baffling issue that really put a dent in the experience. My wife and I arrived around 9:00 PM Friday on Memorial Day weekend after a long day of travel, exhausted and hungry, looking forward to what we assumed would be a relaxing hotel experience: check in, drop the bags, grab a steak and a drink at the hotel restaurant, and unwind for the evening. Instead, we were informed that both the restaurant and bar had closed early “because of the holiday weekend.” I’m sorry… what?! Hotels are for holidays. That’s when people travel. It feels like a “bit” from an episode of “Seinfeld”. Closing the restaurant and bar early on a major travel weekend feels a little like Home Depot deciding to close during a hurricane or Starbucks announcing they’re taking the morning off on Monday. Or, a movie theater closing on opening night of a new “Star Wars” movie! The frustrating part is that the website still showed the restaurant open until 11:00 PM, so we arrived expecting one experience and got another. Had we known, we would have stopped somewhere before arriving. Again, the staff themselves were courteous and the property was nice enough, but this just felt like an odd operational decision that left a lot of guests stranded looking for late-night food options after a long day on the road.

I really appreciated the help with my luggage since I’ve been traveling for eight days. I have a lot to move in and out.

I woke up to the fire alarm in the room next to me. I guess it was shower steam sensitive?

Our breakfast waitress for 2 days was spectacular. The food was also great.

Very clean and great support in the beds.

The lotion offered stinks bad. I would suggest changing to a different scent. It smells like clove cigarettes.

Everything was super.

Really nice stay at this vintage Marriott that's been spiffily upgraded. Hadn't stayed here in a few years and was delighted to see the updates. As others have noted, the staff are fantastic—unfailingly helpful and cheerful. Tranquil location in E Wichita not far from great restaurants, etc.
