This property was so “quirky” - it just oozes a great ambience. I think this property is one where you either love it (like us) or hate it. Our hosts John and Leslie added to the overall charm. And the breakfast was fantastic!!

"Beautiful historic inn very convenient to everything in Akaroa"

Blythcliff is an incredible historic property with tons of character. The gardens are amazing and our room had an lovely view of the bay and balcony. The owners are very friendly and the breakfast was excellent. The inn is on a quiet street, but an easy walk to everything in Akaroa. Our room was very clean and comfortable and there were nice touches like a bathrobes and also a fridge in the upstairs sitting room with bottles of cold water. We enjoyed walking around the grounds, watching the chickens and doves, and the 100 year old eels who hang out in the creek.

What a wonderful gem in Akaroa! The historic home has been beautifully restored with eclectic and historic decor. The gardens are gorgeous for a stroll with art sculptures (most of which was made by the hosts!) and lovely plants. Ask to meet the eels! Breakfast was excellent and totally on brand with the historic feel of the place. We loved our stay here, and the hosts were so much fun to chat with! Highly recommend!

Not a big problem, water pressure very low -but an old house, so to be expected!

Host John was very welcoming. The property was old and charming, with stream and eels. John showed us feeding time with the eels..! Breakfast was sumptuous.
