Hotel Fafense

The hotel was impeccably clean, and the staff were friendly and helpful throughout my stay. The only minor downside upon arrival was a noticeable smell of cleaning products in the room, likely a result of the high cleaning standards, although it was not particularly pleasant after a long journey.

What surprised me most was the breakfast. Portugal is renowned for its rich culinary traditions and excellent food quality, which makes the hotel's breakfast offering even more puzzling. The selection was very limited, and unfortunately some of the basic items were disappointing. The scrambled eggs had an artificial, rubbery texture, while the boiled eggs seemed overcooked to the point of being unpleasant in both texture and taste. The coffee, despite Portugal's strong coffee culture, was made from instant powder with powdered milk, resulting in a drink best avoided if you want to start your day on a positive note. On a positive note, the fruit was fresh and tasty - although, admittedly, it is difficult to go wrong with fresh fruit. Overall, the hotel itself was very comfortable, clean, and well-managed, but the breakfast experience fell well below the standard one would expect in Portugal.
