The Westin San Jose

The room was so nice, clean and comfortable. Staff were extremely helpful and nice.

It's visually appealing. Vintage. Location central to the area. Close to many attractions. Friendly but limited staff. Great restaurants nearby. On-site gym well equipped for basic workout needs. Clean rooms.

Restaurant lacks better breakfast options(not much variety) and is pricey for what you get. Valet should be priced lower as there are not enough parking options nearby. No general store in hotel just a few vending machines.

I wasn’t aware there wasn’t any designated parking paying that extra $30 for parking was disappointing

Bed was comfy. There was a chaise at the foot of the bed. Plentiful lighting in the room. The shower was nice, heated up fast. Friendly and helpful staff overall. Gave me a nice upgrade which I appreciated. Pretty nice gym in the basement. Did the job.

They only offered valet parking which was $51 a night. Quite outrageous for a little town like San Jose. I was angered by this but already committed to 4 nights. Also kind of expensive room rate for being so lackluster. I felt kind of ripped off overall. Otherwise, the place was a little boring. Kind of old, a little creepy in the hallways. Didn't seem to live up to other Westins I've stayed at but it's just fine if you manage expectations.

Clean, quiet and location

The historical character of the building was appreciated , and the location is excellent. Security guards were present throughout the night, which was reassuring. The room included a mini fridge, the bed was comfortable, and an extra duvet comforter was provided. Water pressure shower was also good.

The walls are paper thin, making it easy to hear other guests in their rooms. Upon entering, I was hit with an overwhelming smell of chemicals and artificial floral aerosol — likely an attempt to mask cigarette smoke coming from the carpet. The room itself had several maintenance issues: a broken towel rack, a sink that drained poorly, and significant buildup on the showerhead and handles. Adding to the frustration, the flimsy do not disturb signs constantly fall off due to the shape of the door handle and lack of lamination. Aside for the small Niagara water bottles the front desk may offer upon check in, water was nearly impossible to come by. The vending machine had run out of bottled water, and the main lobby water station was frequently unavailable due to a lack of cups — leaving guests with no way to purchase or refill water at all. It’s also worth noting that what was advertised and referred to by the front desk staff, as the “Hotel’s water station,” was, in reality, a small water cooler tucked inside the tiny gym. To make matters worse, there is no convenience store on the property to purchase food, drinks, or toiletries, except for the understocked vending machines located in the basement. For the price paid, the lack of basic amenities and upkeep, and cleanliness was absolutely unacceptable. All this isn’t worth historical appreciation .

Lying about a refund and charging extra without disclosing it to me.
