Found lice in my room

The price was right, and in fact it decreased while I was debating between hotels. This was just a quick overnight stay and we have a big family (so have to buy two rooms), so I went for the cheapest positively reviewed option. The front desk staff was nice. When we got there, the man at the front desk actually walked me to the rooms we would stay in to see if they worked for me. We ended up choosing different rooms because of the proximity of the doors (FYI they have no connecting rooms). He happily accommodated to the switch. The lobby was clean and inviting, the pool was clean and bright. Lobby coffee was pretty good in the morning. The rooms were fine, nothing negative to report overall.

Breakfast was ok, but they clearly try to keep prepared food minimal. It was open until 10:30 and I visited around 9:30 - several things were in low supply. Scrambled eggs were almost out, sausage gravy was almost out, there were about 3-4 yogurts available. There was no orange juice (there is a typed up sign on the machine that says "There is no more orange juice" haha). By the time I finished the little bit of eggs and biscuits and gravy I had, the yogurts were gone. The woman brought out some more eggs, but just a bit - if all my boys had come down at once, there wouldn't have been enough for all four of them. The bathroom water smelled a little weird and faucet was outdated. The door still uses keycards that must be inserted. The TV channels didn't offer very much, maybe a couple dozen channels? Just a couple channels for the kids. That's all "fine" - but just noting it. There were NO connecting rooms (as in they do not exist there). This was a big bummer and I would have definitely paid another $50 to have connecting rooms (at another hotel), if I would have realized this. Our room was fine when we checked in and all evening/night, but the next morning, it smelled like someone was sitting IN OUR ROOM smoking. It was SO STRONG. I have no idea where it was coming from. The girl at the front desk said sometimes if someone smokes in the bathroom it can come through... not sure but it was very smelly. Luckily we were checking out - I couldn't get out of there fast enough. Also, I can't remember a hotel stay where I've seen so many bags of garbage sitting outside room doors. Everywhere I turned in the hallway there was a small trash bag outside a door. Why? And I didn't necessarily notice them disappearing quickly. So.. not sure what that's about. The elevator takes a dramatic pause before it opens.

Had a damp smell in the place.

Staff was friendly and helpful

There was garbage all over the sidewalk and in the landscaping near the entrance. The stairway looked like it hadn’t been vacuumed in a long time. The pop machine and orange juice dispensers were broken. The hot water and coffee was room temperature at best and we were there right when breakfast opened. Our bathroom sink was clogged and the tv didn’t work (you couldn’t change channels). There was a dirty towel folded in with the clean ones.
