Miao Home

The host of Miao Home is thoughtful and kind. She got out of her way to help us figure out how to get to our next destinations. She made us a delicious breakfast and served it with beautiful music. Her rooms are clean and roomy. We are very satisfied with our stay here and hope for a future revisit soon

We had a wonderful stay here! The room is very spacious and clean, so is the bathroom. The owner’s cat and the decoration where the breakfast was served is a dream for cat- and Ghibli-lover including our three-year old. The owner was very helpful and gave lots of much-needed tips about lunch/dinner options both in advance and during our stay. We travelled via public transportation, and it can be a bit tricky to time itinerary with the bus/train schedule, but with the tip from the owner, we were able to book a local taxi to take us to Fengihu station at a reasonable price.

Not something we don’t like but just an FYI that the slope up to the property is a bit steep, but we and our three-year old managed it quite well. Do travel light-er if you plan to come here via public transportation and with small kids.

Very friendly lady boss, clean and neat room. Nice breakfast cook by the lady boss. She help us to call our driver when he can’t find his way.

Clean and comfortable accommodation. Close to tea and mist walking trail. Able to see sea of cloud from homestay balcony.

Breakfast was nice. 30mins walk from the stay to the Eryanping viewing platform of sunset and sea of clouds. We didn't go for the walk due to Google maps showed that we would need to walk along the main road which we found rather unsafe to do so. But we would have gone if the host had told us earlier that there was actually a short cut to the trail through her bamboo garden which would avoid the dangerous walk on the main road. The host said she didn't know that we would go for the trail walk... So advised the host to put such info online or even have a little booklet in the room to inform the guests what is around etc. The host's family runs a tea farm, bought some tea from her as we didn't have enough time to shop... 😂

The view from the stay 's patio is mostly blocked by two trees at the front and a gigantic spider web... 😂 Don't follow Google maps, Google maps tends to bring U up the wrong slope to the stay. The slope was steep and not too friendly to walk up when U had heavy luggage and it was raining. Not many restaurants or shops around... Corners of the room around the bed were slightly dusty but that was alright with us as the bed was big enough. Inserts in the room but that's unavoidable since we were in Alishan with greens around us along with fresh air.

The host is very caring and kind. The standard double room has a good price for such a unique and beautiful location. It was comfortable, clean and quiet. The shared outdoor deck is a dreamy spot to enjoy breakfast or to just sit and relax. It's close to the Tea Mist Trail and relatively easy to hike to the first platform that offers sensational views. The bus from Chiayi Train Station stops at the Lincuo Stop not far from the Miao Homestay. The house cat and the cat themed decorations are cute. The road outside has a good footpath and has some street lighting to walk to either the Xiding Town or to the Eryanping trailhead, day or night.

The standard double room is a converted shipping container so it's pretty small but the space has been relatively well laid out. There is a heater and a fan but no air conditioner or refrigerator so it might not be comfortable if you can't cope with hot weather. There's also no exhaust fan in the bathroom, so you need to leave the windows open to clear toilet smells or the steam after showering. The nearby Eryanping Trail has become too famous with tour operators at sunset.

Loved it all

The place is run by a friendly lady who clearly pays attention to all those little details that make your stay pleasant. The rooms are super tidy and well decorated, the mountain views are wonderful and the breakfast is delicious!

I'd give this place 10 out of 10 points if it weren't for huge spiders, which there are plenty of as you approach the homestay. Obviously this is no one's fault, but there are a lot of them everywhere as the place is in the mountains.
