New Victorian Inn and Suites

Arrived early. My reserved room wasn't ready but they had another room of equal value that was ready so the staff made the switch and I was checked in early within 5 minutes.

Bed was very comfortable. Breakfast was good (cereal, fruit, yoghurt, muffins, waffles, biscuits and gravy). Bathroom was clean. Lighting in the rooms is a little low and the room had a smell of dampness to it. Staff was very friendly.

The first room smelled like a dumpster. They upgraded me for no charge to a "jacuzzi room". Why would anyone want a jacuzzi in their hotel room? Of course the floor was damp and the room reeked of mildew. Just not quite as bad as the first room. Of course the rooms and hotel were filled with bugs as there seem to be families living in the hotel (probably paid by the government). The building should probably be condemned and ye gods I will never stay in another such Inn if I have to work until I'm 85 to avoid it.

We only stayed one night while taking our daughter to college. As stated in other reviews, the main hallway and breakfast area smell strongly of animals. The room was not bad, but definitely musty. The floors, especially corners, can all use a good deep cleaning. It is definitely only wiped clean and called good enough. Parking is tight. We were pulling a trailer and had to park on the street. On the plus side, beds are clean and comfortable. The front desk staff are fantastic. Breakfast is adequate. Rooms are quiet. The location is fantastic.

This is a budget hotel that did not seem like one. It was clean, the staff were friendly and helpful, and the lobby had a beautiful aquarium full of tropical fish kept up by a staff member who maintains aquariums as a second job. The room was functional, well lit, clean, in good condition, and had the basic amenities that we needed. The breakfast was excellent for a budget hotel, having a wider variety of options than others, and the woman who tended the kitchen was very friendly while doing an excellent job of managing her area. Parking was free and spaces were available near the closest door to our room. We arrived during a fierce storm with 60 mph winds and heavy rain, so the satellite TV service wasn't functioning well. That was of little consequence, however, as the Internet service was very good and that was what we really needed. Overall, we were impressed and had our best hotel experience of a summer in which we travelled by car more than 8000 miles, literally coast to coast. It was also the least expensive hotel we stayed in.
