Travelodge by Wyndham North Bay Lakeshore

This is a very dated property and attempts of adding "lipstick" have been made to try and modernize it. The entrance has a short asphalt "ramp" that is difficult to navigate on foot when opening the door. This is obviously a known safety issue because of a warning sign being present. Obviously "slip and falls" have occurred previously. A sign doesn't fix the entry issue...all it does is advertise the operators of the facility know of this unsafe entry issue and consciously chose to do a quick fix (signage) instead of fixing the real problem...The price for accommodation was very affordable.

It is true, you get what you pay for. The automated card entry to the rooms was not reliable. Twice we had to get the cards re-activated. Another guest experienced the same thing. When getting them reactivated the attendant claimed "we shouldn't put them in our pockets beside cell phones"...a very untrue accusation, we each kept them in dedicated pockets away from any magnetic sources. The room appeared clean and recently renovated however the black out curtains were obviously originals. When the curtains were pulled back to let in natural light, years of accumulated black mold was very evident on the backs of them. Appeared to have never been cleaned! The bathroom fixtures were very dated but functional. The breakfast was very minimalistic. Fruit choice included picking one of two available bruised apples. The worst "powdered" scrambled eggs I have ever tried, Coffee can best be described as brown crayons melted in hot water. An older, cob-web covered, rodent trap was in clear view under one of the breakfast serving counters...Yuck! Breakfast being supplied needs major work...we couldn't finish it so we disposed of it and went to Timmy's instead.

It was close to the highway

The place smells of smoke and body Oder. There was a guy tweeking at the door when we pulled up. The bed was clean but totally broken not comfortable at all. If I was able to cancel and not be charged I would have not stayed there but we got in at 11pm after a long drive and up since 4am we just passed out. Breakfast was bad the sausage was under cooked the eggs were over cooked. I will never go back. We already canceled our Saturday night that we were supposed to stay there.

Good value for money

Exactly what you’d expect from a Travelodge. It had been recently renovated as well.

The breakfast was good. I enjoyed the stay for 1 night.
