The Sebel Canberra Civic

This is a less than full service hotel, but has great location, excellent rooms, and is generally very pleasant.

The reception opens at 8 am, the doors are locked until then, somewhat inconvenient.

The location was perfect

I had called the reception about 2 weeks out to ask about what I need to do when checking in past their reception open hours. I was told I would be sent a text with a code for the key box next to the door. I called again to confirm that this was still the case the day of. They didn't have anything noted from my previous call but said they would make sure that I would receive a text with the code. I landed in Canberra at 10pm and checked my phone and realised I had not received the text with the code as promised by two different staff members. Luckily they had a bell I could call next to their door that was answered by a staff member that was able to give me the code. I expressed my disappointment and the stress it had caused me. I was told they would pass this feedback on but I never heard from anyone so I don't feel like my feedback was taken on board. The beds were very hard to sleep on. The bedside lamps were extremely bright so I would not recommend to people like myself who are sensitive to bright lights. Because of this, I don't consider this a reliable hotel and I most likely won't be back due to this.

Very convenient location and clean and tidy.

Needed two comfortable chairs at the coffee table so we could sit and relax together.

Room was great

I arrived late, and despite calling ahead, wasn't able to gain access to the hotel. Then when I gained access, the card to my room didn't work. Last thing I needed after arriving late!
