Clove Island Villas & SPA

A lovely place to stay in Zanzibar. The hotel is calm, clean and very beautiful. One of the biggest advantages is the wonderful view of the ocean. It is a great place to rest and enjoy the peaceful atmosphere. The room was nice and comfortable, and the team was always kind and helpful. We really enjoyed our stay .

Ein traumhafter Aufenthalt! Ein sehr schönes Hotel, freundliches Personal und eine wunderbare Atmosphäre. Ich habe mich rundum wohlgefühlt. Leider war mein Aufenthalt viel zu kurz. Sehr zu empfehlen!

Property with good potential but failed experience for our visit

Our stay was extremely uncomfortable. Numerous power cuts that the staff were not adequately prepared or trained for. Left without power , AC or water for hours on ends with no backup. Imagine not being able to shower when a lady really needs to due to biological nature… ended up having to walk along the beach to the nearest resort to use the shower there. I think ultimately staff should’ve done more check-ins with guests during these circumstances to ensure their comfort as a priority, but no one even gave solutions or checked-in in these emergency situations.

The rooms are clean and comfortable, cosy and with a beautiful sea view! The sea is right in front of the hotel. During low tide you can take a strawl to the reef. We were alone at the beach. The service was lovely and the food tasty and well prepared. Power shortages are common and expected here in the south of Zanzibar. It was a nice and relaxing stay - we even could keep the room for the late check-out without any charge.

Batterie candles were missing in the room.

From the boho beachy vibe cast away peacefulness to the wonderful staff, Clove Island is everything we (mother and daughter) had been hoping for from our trip to Zanzibar. The food at the hotel was excellent. Very affordable and lots of choice with locally and ethically sourced produce. The breakfast was outstanding with lots of fresh fruit, a selection of bread, eggs and yogurt etc. All of the staff were very friendly and attentive. The facilities and grounds were well kept and always clean. The room was beautiful, clean and comfortable. We booked our excursions through the hotel and everything was taken care of and very affordable. During our trips we met some amazing people and learned a lot about life in Zanzibar. All in all we had a fantastic holiday and would highly recommend to anyone wanting a relaxing escape. As two female travellers, we felt safe and taken care of on the hotel grounds and during our trips with the guides and taxi drivers. All of the locals we encountered in Makunduchi seemed very friendly and welcoming too.

Clove Island is located in a remote South Eastern part of the Island, so the Taxi journeys from/to the airport and Stone Town etc is hard going. However, for us it was worth it to fully appreciate and experience the peacefulness that came with being away from the busier parts of the Island and getting to see some of the local villages and way of life in Zanzibar away from the tourism. So if you are looking for cast away vibes, you’ll get exactly that here.

We really enjoyed our time at the property. It was a calm and beautiful place, perfect for a rest. The team was kind and always ready to help. We felt very welcome. The atmosphere was quiet and relaxing, and we also liked the food very much.

Très bel hôtel avec une vraie ambiance de vacances. Les chambres étaient propres, le personnel très gentil et on s’est sentis détendus dès notre arrivée. Le séjour était définitivement trop court… Nous reviendrons avec plaisir !
