Hampton Inn Cookeville

It was not the quality you would expect from a Hampton Inn property. The carpet was filthy, property had a bad smell and the mattresses hard. The top linen was more of a mattress pad than the standard duvet. Skip this property.

This property was convenient to I-40 and that's where the positivity ends. We chose this location because Hilton properties further east were not available and are glad we did not have to stay for more than one night. The hotel itself was in need of some TLC, especially in our room: tiles on either side of the bathtub along the floor were coming loose, the bathroom sink was slow draining, and the beds were not particularly comfortable. The above notwithstanding, the property location was in a depressed part of town (lots of vacant commercial real estate) and there were panhandlers on the corner adjacent to the hotel. Getting into the property was a challenge as well, as there was a steep grade off street level and anything other than a crawl could easily result in a low ground clearance vehicle "bottoming out" with the potential for significant damage to the undercarriage.

Breakfast was adequate. Room was comfortable and clean.

Elevator made some strange noises. Pillows were all the shredded foam type so weren't very comfortable.
