Noisy at night and nobody controlling noisy, sweary, Canabis smell from one of the rooms.

Good location, comfortable bed, sadly let down by all the other problems referred to below. We have travelled the world and I can’t believe the way we were treated.

First, the room overlooked the main street and only had blinds, not curtains, so light came straight through, making it difficult to sleep. The shower was extremely small, to the point where it was hard to move around. Another issue was that right outside our door was the baby‑changing area and customer toilets for the café downstairs. People were coming upstairs to use them, and we didn’t feel this was hygienic or safe for guests staying overnight. We were booked for two nights, but after returning from our first evening out—with some food and the TV on quietly—the owner (who also said he was the chef) knocked on our door and told us we were being too loud. He even threatened to call the police, which we found very upsetting. As a couple simply trying to enjoy a Saturday night, this made us feel extremely uncomfortable and anxious about making any noise at all. Because of this, I didn’t go down for breakfast the next morning. My husband did and said it was “okay,” but definitely not the best. He also tried to speak with the owner about what had happened, but was told, “What do you want me to do about it? It’s up to you.” This unhelpful attitude made the decision clear. We ended up booking another hotel in the area—an extra £100 out of pocket—but we felt we had no choice due to the owner’s aggressive manner and unreasonable expectations of guests. The second place we stayed was amazing, with none of these issues. Overall, based on our experience, I would never stay here again
