Antica Residenza la Vela

I loved this place, good to stay with kids, friends, and family. Beds are confortável, the courtyard was good, and the two bathroom are goods! Decorations is simple and so cute.

There is no parking at the property, but it is easy to park at the street

Great accommodation with very good price. Really comfortable for 5 people. Service of the host was really good, they were always available for helping on any issue with the property and for touring recommendations. There is not parking lot at the property but you can leave the car outside in the street.

On the negative side, the property only has 1 bathroom and it is in the main room, which might be inconvenient for 5 people. Also, there is not air conditioning in the house. There is a washing machine, which was pretty convenient for us.

All the staff were friendly, kind and had very quick and detailed responses to our requests. They did their best. They organized private tours to Pompeii and Capri island that were flexible and customized for our needs. Capri tour was very special and we could jump into the sea off the shore to swim, enjoy lunch at a nice restaurant, and had luck to visit Blue Grotto. It was expensive, but reasonable and rewarding considering all these highlights.

Some rooms for improvement with in-house facilities, we had to pay attention to the amount of hot water usage from the shower to cover our whole family of four, a circuit breaker for the kitchen was easily turned off when we used just the oven, a roof window controlled by electricity was broken and always open so the floor got totally wet after rain. A microwave oven would better be equipped.

It was a very nice apartment. It was spacious, clean, nice beds and 2 bathrooms. We could also use the washing machine and you had a private garden with a gate, so our toddler couldn’t get out. If you go to the first floor you also have an amazing view over the bay. The host, Michele, was so very helpful and service-oriented. They also have a document with tips for the area. They provided us with a baby bed as well for our 4-month old baby.

Due to our toddler and baby and the fact that we are traveling through Italy for a month we had quite a lot of luggage. You cannot reach the apartment with a regular/bigger car (just if you have a smaller car and have impressive (Italian) driving skills). We had to walk up a hill that was quite steep and carry the luggage. You had to park the car (in Italian style) below on the street which was a busy road and (un)pack all of the luggage onto the street. Michele was a great help though and helped carry some luggage with his scooter and even came at check out to help us again. If you make a reservation beforehand, you can park your car privately a bit further ahead (still better to unpack your car on the side of the road, because it’s closer to the apartment and there is no sidewalk). We didn’t make a reservation, but the second and third day we could still park our car there. We would’ve liked to know the fact that you cannot reach the apartment by car and you have to unload on a busy street without sidewalk as we were traveling with 2 young children and it might have influenced our decision to book the apartment. It does seem to be a common Italian way in this part of Italy though. It was the only remark for us and, as mentioned, Michele was a big help!

Nice garden area- close to Sorrento

No phone signal whatsoever. Wifi never worked during our stay, so we were left without signal/ internet . Poor kitchen equipment. No toaster / nice coffee and toiletries . Had to leave our car on the street and walk uphill- can’t imagine how we would do with a pram
