Sleep Inn Florence North

I want to say that the young lady at the front desk was very friendly, which is why I didn't rate the hotel lower. Having worked in the service industry myself, I truly value good service. Her attitude made a positive impression.

Traveling back from Florida with my family last week, we decided to stop in the Florence area for a quick night's rest before heading on to New Jersey. We chose to stay at the Sleep Inn, which was rated 7.0 on Booking.com. I assumed it would be a decent place for the night. Honestly, I was surprised to see such a rating. When I entered the hallway, I noticed a stale, musty smell and a strong scent of marijuana. Normally, I believe in letting others live their lives freely, but with three children—two of whom are under five—I wasn't too comfortable with it. Since we needed two rooms to accommodate six of us, and my family stayed in a separate room, my wife mentioned her room looked so dirty that it seemed like no one had cleaned it since the last guest. I also found an issue in my room—definitely black mold in the bathroom vents. When I inspected further in the morning, I saw that most of the vents were filled with mold. Please note, I’m not here to bash this hotel. My goal is to help others who value a clean environment and have breathing sensitivities—especially to mold—make an informed decision. I believe they genuinely try hard with the resources they have.

Room was clean, bed had comfortable bed covers, decent location close to highway and services

Management rushed to close breakfast, rushed/banging on room doors at 11 am check out time. Non smoking room but hallways reeked of cigarette and Marijuana smoke. Got to breakfast later, had to ask for eggs, juice was turned off.

Overall appearance and upkeep.
