The Lord Nelson Hotel & Suites

Very nice hotel. Lots of charm and character. Great meal in the restaurant. The staff go over and beyond to help you. Rooms are very nice. The age of the hotel (almost 100 years) gives it a very elegant and charming feel.

Very glad we could experience this piece of Halifax history! Being on Spring Garden with a variety of shops, and being right next to the Public Gardens was so nice - both were good options for short, brisk winter walks! And we were able to grab a late night pizza, just around the corner. It was a beautiful venue for our staff event with a relaxed but refined atmosphere, and extremely friendly and helpful staff. Really happy with our room and amenities. Breakfast at the restaurant was delicious. Accessibility note: You may need assistance if you have accessibility issues, as the elevator sometimes doesn't want to take you to parking, but it seems the hotel staff can provide assistance where needed, so please don't let it hinder your decision to come here - just know that you may need to seek staff assistance, and there always seems to be someone available. From what I've learned, they will be more than happy to help, and with a smile on their face :)

No food available

I have never been treated with so much compassion and kindness at any hotel. I had to go to Halifax to look after my son after an operation. The doormen rushed to help us bring a wheelchair and taking us respectfully and gently right to our rooms. The staff took time to talk with me and check on me and on a particularly bad day - they sent me a hand written card and a box of choclates. Obviously, the rooms, the location, and everything else was excellent. But the KINDNESS - that you don't get at every hotel. THANK YOU>

Beautiful old hotel, retained original character yet offered modern amenities. Location was perfect for our needs: near the QE II and local shops and eateries. The Public Gardens is across the street but the snow made that impossible to visit.

bed was good

could not close the door in the bathroom - it was that small - had to be moved but was rushed and forgot a few things - never again will i go back - rooms smaller then normal

Easily the worst hotel we stayed in of the 6 places during our trip. There were so many things wrong with our room (mostly due to a lack of thought and attention) that we spent our first hour here just fixing stuff that the hotel could have if they cared even a little bit about guest comfort and usability. There were also some things that were just stupid like the TV hung on a wall behind the door and 45degrees to the bed, a bathroom you almost had to step over the toilet to get into, a fridge that opened left-to-right in a cupboard that opened right-to-left and so close to a bedside table it didn’t open fully, charging ports by the door not by the bed and an aircon unit under the window that not only blew the curtains outward when it came on but so loud that it woke you up every time. Some of these things the hotel reception already knew about…but really didn’t seem to care. I’ve stayed in motels that could give this hotel lessons about guest hospitality.
