The Wine Vine Hotel

Quiet and convenient.

Odd bathroom setup, room needing another of TLC, sliding door to outside not very secure.

First and foremost, this is in no way a hotel. This is a ‘renovated’ motel (formerly named The Barossa Motel). Incredibly misleading. Beds aren’t the most comfortable, pillows aren’t great, and duvets aren’t warm. Aircon/heating is capped at 25°C. There is no table, no kitchen bin (only a mini open bathroom bin), no microwave, and the world’s tiniest drink fridge that opens on its own apparently - lucky that I eat mainly plant-based, so there was no biohazard created from spoiling my meal prep, and we received a water jug in our fridge that was less than 1/4 full. Lovely. We were so excited to have our own private little ‘patio’ area, which, as it turns out, is just two old chairs and side table that face a sad old fence, and an open field-like area. No privacy between neighbours if you step off of your patch of concrete outside the door. There are no secure entry/exit points to this ‘hotel’ as well, so anyone could walk off of the street and attempt to enter your front and back door. If you’re looking to book the disability access room like we did, and are in a wheelchair, good luck having a shower or accessing the sink. There is only a hand rail around the toilet, and a shower stool for the thin, long, open cubicle of a shower. The sink, which is in the bedroom, is insulting. I am 157cm tall and had to stand on my tip toes and have an arm in the sink to be able to rinse my mouth when brushing my teeth. It’s so shallow, that you can’t fill a reusable bottle in there. Speaking of the bathroom, there is mould on the wall near the window, and I highly doubt the bathroom was cleaned before we got there - there were long dark strands of hair in the shower, and a skid mark in the toilet.

The 2 beds were so comfortable, the tea/coffee facilities and toaster plus plate and cutlery was great. Location was excellent. Parking in front of room was great.

There was a funny smell from bathroom area and we weren't sure where it came from.

We had two rooms, one with bed bugs and the other had a terrible smell. The bunk bed for the kids was unstable and wobbly so we needed to get two rrooms.

It’s within the town close with the shops.

The information saying its a “hotel” but it is actually a motel that they just modernised the interior. The photos they put in the website is not showing the actual information. The lights outside overnight is very bright though they have blinds in the window but it doesnt do the job to cover the lights from outside. There are small cockroaches running around the room.
