La Quinta by Wyndham Effingham

Pros: Clean, Good Location (location is also disadvantage due to interstate noise), king rooms were larger than most hotel rooms. Popcorn was nice touch, when available. Noticed it was pet friendly [we did not have pets] but observed many owners with dogs in the lobby.

I rarely leave poor reviews. However, this hotel wasnt worth the money I paid and I wish I would have known there were issues before staying here 3 nights. In my opinion there was very little pride in working here and staff did not seem empowered. Cost cutting and or supply is effecting quality of stay. There seemed to be shortages of necessary items and it was up to guests to find or request basic services. Employees were not empowered to do the right thing and appeared micromanaged, often defering to needing manager approval. For example, told housekeeping staff, she did not need to come in and clean/make up my room linens that day. I would only need to exchange or get fresh towels. She indicated something of which that linens only changed after 3rd day. I explained I was not wanting sheets or my bed even made up that day. I was merely wanting fresh towels and thought she would be grateful to have less cleaning duties. The housekeeper, despite having a cart in hallway near my door said she could NOT give me fresh towels, because "I [my room] was not on her list". There were 4 rooms at this hotel for my family group. When at free bkfst overheard individual asking how to work the waffle machine and saying they were having trouble getting waffle batter out. Employee: "It's to early for the batter to have run out. It never runs out this early" [spoiler: it was out after being chastised and made to feel like they couldn't work equipment properly, employee brought out more batter]. Out of the 3 nights, having 4 rooms, we stayed here, the evening cookies were always gone before 6pm. I recieved one cookie upon arrival around 5:30pm. Only one room of the 4 recieved a Wyndam Reward bag upon check in. Despite my being a Wyndam Rewards member and paying for 3 of 4 rooms, it wasnt me that recieved the welcome bag. My husband called to front desk to ask for wifi password. He was told to enter last name and room number.

Clean

The conditioner pump was not working in our bathroom and no I didn’t call anyone to fix it because I only found out while taking a shower early morning. We only stayed one night so didnt feel the need to ask someone to fix it.

Good

This location was the most expensive of the three LaQuintas we stayed in.

Hotel was spotless with one exception, easy to find and close to highway.

Previous customer left food in the room refrigerator, which i needed to use. Told receptionist, but no other response. Minor wear on surfaces in room, no carpet, vinyl (?) floor.

Comfortable and clean. Pleasant staff.

Every single staff member was great! Nice to know everyone's so friendly at this location. We stay at the La Quinta every time we visit Effingham
