Hotel Altes Pfarrhaus

Stayed for 1 night in this hotel. We had a room on the top floor which had the most beautiful views of the river. It was a duplex room, which was a little scary at night(the bathroom was on the 1st level and the beds on the 2nd) but we were given this room to accomodate our request for a nice view and it certainly did!! The beds were so comfortable and I slept even better than in my own home! There was free internet(very handy). The room was spotless, a bit cold, but we turned on the heat and it heated up in no time. Didn't try the dinner, but it certainly looked good! One thing that spoiled it all was this: when it came time to pay our bill the following morning, we were told that the charge "machine" was broken and we needed to pay by cash! My husband refused since we had only a certain amount of cash on hand and we knew that this hotel could be paid by charge. We were told(nicely) to go to the bank and get cash, but my husband replied that he would not waste our valuable time to wait on line in a bank and that they should debit the bill the following day. In the end, they agreed. We enjoyed our stay in this comfortable hotel, but we do not believe that the charge "machine" was broken and wonder if others experienced the same thing.

Altes Pfarrhaus is definitely not the cheapest hotel in town: if you go for Low Budget there are better options. If you want quality (time), this is the place to be. Spacious bedroom with view over the Moezel river, well equipped private bathroom. The breakfast buffet is relatively generous: bacon, scrambled eggs, boiled eggs, croissants, 3 types of bread, 3 types of yogurt, ... We tried the restaurant too and that was also fine. Guests receive a free bus pass for the duration of their stay: very convenient to commute to Cochem. There is also boat stop nearby. And last but not least: at 100m (Weingartenstr.80) you can taste wines at one of the best wine producers in the region (Lönartz-Thielmann).
