InterContinental Dominica Cabrits Resort & Spa by IHG

I liked the friendliness of the staff.

Breakfast was amazing, staff was just awesome, location was paradise. We had such a good time. The hotel staff was 1st class!

Wouldn't change a think, apart from having the Rum bar open on a weekday.

The hotel is stunningly beautiful, clean and accommodating. The main issue was food and beverage service. The staff had no clue on how to wait on tables, present menus, serve beverage or food. We waited 45 minutes for 4 drinks only to be brought one, told two weren’t available and had to wait again for the last. It was disappointing at best. Food was good but they need training in their restaurants!

It’s very clean and hotel is maintained beautifully. Breakfast was good, not exceptional with speciality coffees at additional price. The beds were comfortable and rooms generally were well designed and pretty. Views are beautiful from hotel. Whale watching was great and lots were seen. The staff were very friendly and tried their hardest but be aware that it’s Caribbean style service. After dinner the atmosphere was non existent, had to find a bar tender to find a drink.

We booked superior room with ocean view and to preface, the resort had less than 50 guests in it (150 rooms), yet we were given a room (1141) with hardly any natural light and a view of plants (with about an inch of seaview). We asked to see another room and chose to upgrade to grand suite with ocean view. Since the occupancy was so low, it came as a big surprise that the room we viewed at arrival wasn’t available and actually no ocean view suites were available to move into that first night. For a 5* very new resort with the IHG name, it came as a great surprise that no complimentary upgrade, no complimentary cocktail, no gift or discount on anything was offered. The only option of wine in entire resort was Lindemans, which is the cheapest wine you can buy in England for about £3 per bottle and here they charged over £10 for a glass. We would have bought champagne if we could have. Didn’t clear empty room service until the following morning so it got ravaged by something. Twice, room service took 30+ minutes to contact and then 60+ mins to get for two simple main meals whilst restaurant had less than 10 people in it. Essentially it was beautiful but a little disappointing.

The resort is beautiful and the facilities are excellent. All of the staff were unfailingly lovely (especially Laura on reception)

The overall experience falls well short of 5* luxury. It is common to wait very long times for basic things, e.g. a wine list or some bread. When asking for something, there is approximately a 50:50 chance that it will be received. Often facilities are closed during their advertised opening times. The problem appears to be with systems at the resort rather than people. After we ordered room service, the plates were still outside our room four days later. On a separate note, the communications from the hotel to the guests are very poor- it was very difficult to find out information about excursions, which facilities are available etc.

I was very stressed until I got to the property. I was able to chill out and decompress. My best 10days I have ever spent at an hotel. X

The resort is beautiful but the price is so high only 10 peope there. The staff don't know customer service and I was informed by the locals up the street that none of the staff were trained at the hotel and was just thrown into their position, so if i were you, i wouldn't bother wasting money or time. They don't have any events at the hotel but a sunday brunch gathering. The pool closes at 6pm everyday and only one restaurant is open with the beach restaurant only open for 5 hours. Fries are $10 US and they burnt our fries til the point they were not edible. Everything and everyone is very inconsistent. Nothing is the same the next day, which includes service, food, etc. I will never stay at this hotel again especially because I love to stay in nice hotels, and this was suppose to be a 5 star hotel but was more like 1 star. I am begging you to save your money. We travel a lot and have never experience this at a hotel or resort. All of the food should automtically be included in your stay because that is how bad the service is, how much food they lack at the restaurant, and how they are overpricing the hotel because they refuse to promote it. They were out of wings and theu are unable to give timeframe for when they will have again. They are unable to give timeframe for anything and do not accompdate in any area. The wings were out the whole 2 weeks. The wifi was out which is connected to TV service in room and for you to use your personal phone. They were very rude.

The hotel is magical, just as it looks in the photo…..Everyone is super friendly and very helpful …The only meal I had was breakfast and it was delicious…. One thing though after paying all that money a night at least meals should be part of it but despite my one only hiccup sadly it has to end but enjoyed my stay immensely….I will definitely be back in the future….

I really enjoyed this property. This hotel set the tone for my entire trip. The food was fresh and organic, but the second day I stayed, there options were quite bland. Nevertheless, this one of the top three places to stay in Dominica.
