"Is what it is..."

6.0

I've been staying here for one week projects in the Sultanate for the last 5 years or so. I've tried other places, but this one offers the best combination of close amenities, location, and decent enough rooms. Yes, it is old and tatty. Yes, there is no room service and the aircon is too cold. Yes, the breakfast is horrible. But if you get over all that the rooms are clean enough, beds comfy (if a bit soft) and it is normally reasonably quiet. If you do not have a car don't stay here, there are places within walking distance to eat to buy food and eat but Bandar would be about a 30 min walk. You need wheels in Brunei. There is a big fridge that I fill up on the first night with breakfast foods, snacks, and mixers for my duty free haul. You'll get used to the temperamental shower fittings and the brown water that comes out of the tap with a bit of understanding that this is BRUNEI and you are probably paying less than 50 Brunei dollars for about 1200 sq feet of space to make a mess in. You can stay in much nicer places but will pay about triple at the least. For a self-employer hustler like me, the price outweighs the minor inconviences.

"Pleasant stay..."

8.0

I stayed here for 2 nights.Except the location, its a nice place. Travelling to and from Bandar is a bit of hassle if you dont own a vehicle.Staff are very courteous.Rooms are spacious but need refurbishment as most of the bathroom fittings are apparently old.i will recommend this hotel for budget travellers looking for spacious, comfortable, clean room.

"Don't believe the pictures online"

2.0

After booking a 2 bedroom apartment online, I recently had a 3 night stay at this hotel. I checked the it web site and it looked quite nice and offered reasonable services at a good rate. Surprise surprise, its nothing like what is portrayed on the web site. Although the staff at reception were helpful enough and try hard, they're up against it as the place is just so old, tatty and basically grotty it off putting. My 2 bedroom apartment, while spacious enough had a huge kitchen sink complete with over head rangehood, but no cooking utensils or stove. [not that i was going to use it anyway] An electric kettle sat proudly with cups and saucers, but no tea or coffee. And none are offered either. The bathroom had no hot water the first night/morning, because WE forgot to turn the hot water service on! It might have been good to be told about the switch on the kitchen wall to turn it on. The horrible dirty old wooden furniture was absolutely covered in cigarette burns as well as stains from the bottoms of drinks bottle or glasses. Very classy. The one redeeming feature was that the bed was quite comfortable. A buffet breakfast is included in the tariff. Sounds enticing doesn't it. Wrong again. You have to leave the hotel and go to a building next door to a restaurant to get it. Its on from 6.30 to 10.00am. We arrived at 9.00am to find half a slice of french toast, about 10 slices of bread and some soup on offer. Everything else, 2 large pots, was finished. The bread was replenished by adding half a loaf quite quickly, but they obviously had no intention of replenishing anything else. It was revolting. Needless to say we ate elsewhere for the rest of the stay. I've had the misfortune of staying in a couple of shockers in my travels, and this place is up there with the best [worst] of them. In short if you are looking for apartment accommodation, look elsewhere, as this place is a dive.
