"Disappointing"

4.0

Bed was comfortable .

Bathroom was outside in a separate building to the living area. Needed to be locked and unlocked after every use. Heater didn’t work in living room. Dryer didn’t dry clothes properly. No washing powder. Cooking facilities limited to microwave. No free to air TV

"Utmost Comfort - a perfect stay!"

10.0

An incredibly comfortable experience. The bed and bedding - I didn’t want to ever leave! The bathroom was a dream, with a huge bath. Great water pressure and temperature in the shower. A washer and dryer. Robe and slippers. And so spacious and peaceful. A perfect stay.

"Delightful - one of the highlights of our trip."

9.0

Lovely cottage with very comfortable bedroom, lots of lovely little touches which make such a difference.

A detail - buy with our cottage you had to go outside and then through the communal laundry room to get to our loo and bathroom!

"Bring your own commode and mirror (and batteries)"

5.0

The only highlight was a comfortable bed with large windows and view (fyi: there’s no upstairs a/c so you must open the windows to release the built up heat). The bed provided some relief after returning with personal items from the outdoor toilet area. With my hands full, I landed hard and hit my upper back on the railing on the slippery steep stairs (size 11 feet didn’t fit well on the shallow steps).

I can’t speak to the other units, but to help others: if you require a toilet, sink, and mirror within your immediate living quarters make sure you are NOT booked in Amuri Villas’ “Loft.” The Loft layout is confounding. (We’ve traveled the world staying in lodging ranging from camping or glamping all the way up to luxury hotels). When not camping/glamping during hiking season we avoid anything resembling an Airbnb; we prefer professional, on-site lodging staff and available housekeeping. We thought we had booked a room in small Inn. We arrived on property during the 3-6 pm check-in window with no one on site. We stood in the driveway facing unmarked buildings after a multi-hour drive wondering where to “check in.” A gust of wind blew a white piece of paper taped to a door. We cautiously approached. A hand scrawled note contained a phone number. We texted it and waited for a response while our bladders pulsed. The owner informed us she was at another lodging facility miles away and directed us to look under a mat for a key. That was the last we heard from anyone associated with Amuri Villas. From the Amuri ‘Loft’ sleeping quarters be advised that to reach what can only be described as outdoor plumbing you must climb down steep shallow stairs, fumble with locks in the dark of night, cover your feet and robe up, and carefully navigate more deck steps in the nighttime chill simply to relieve yourself; now do it from deep slumber. (We minimized our liquid consumption and were thankful it didn’t rain during our visit.) You also must carry your toiletries and clothes through a laundry area with what turned out to be a non-functioning washer, dryer and utility sink to access a standing shower that didn’t drain well. In the downstairs sitting area we couldn’t figure out how to turn on any lighting; the remote held dead batteries. We discovered a kitchenette area under the stairs behind a hidden compartment best suited to hobbit-sized people.

"Wonderful Villa minutes away from Napier and Hawkes Bay!"

10.0

Location was perfect! The villa was absolutely wonderful with everything we needed. The bathroom is an absolute dream with a soaking tub that has an amazing view of the mountains and countryside. Very private. only 10 minutes from Napier and all the nice downtown activities and minutes away from Hawkes Bay, one of the best wine areas in the world. Our hosts were onsite....Jane and Hugh and the most delightful people ever! Would highly recommend this property either for a couple wanting a quiet getaway or even for corporate meetings....I believe there are other units on the property available.

Everything was perfect! Nothing I would change.

"Cosy and comfy villa in a magnificent park (but not ideal for two couples)"

8.0

There are a total of three villas in the middle of a magnificent, large and meticulously kept park. The other two villas were not occupied, so we felt like the owners of that entire park. There were plenty of birds and birdsong with a Kingfisher returning every day (@Jane: image is attached). On the day of arrival, the owners had presented us with an excellent bottle of rosé wine, chocolate and a package of small fruit pies. Thanks for that! Our villa featured a hotpool that we used every night, watching the stars and listening to the sounds of the park. The villa was comfortable with everything we needed. The "master" bedroom was spacious, comfy and with lots of daylight. The contact to the owners was through messages only, however, we always received quick, complete and very personal answers 🙂.

The second bedroom turned out to be quite cramped and was clearly a second-grade bedroom with nowhere to put two suitcases without stumbling over them constantly (the perspective on the one picture of the bedroom evokes a different impression) — this was not ideal since we were two couples travelling together so one couple had to bite the bullet. The offered rosé wine was truly excellent (in fact, we bought some bottles later on our trip), however, there were no wine glasses to match its quality. The front terrace offers no shade at all. The link to the registration form we were asked to fill in prior to arrival no longer works (I tried three different browsers) — please remove it from the welcome message. The tablets provided for the dishwasher do not dissolve when put in the dedicated little tray and hence the dishes are not clean (putting the tables alongside the dishes fixed this problem — please update instructions to let future guests know).

"Relaxing, lovely gardens and very comfortable."

10.0

Villa is in a very quiet area and lovely gardens. Was close to shops , restaurants and places of interest. Jane & Hugh were the perfect hosts, there to greet us and contactable if any problems. Would certainly stay at Amuri again, loved it.
