Tropical Home Koh Phangan

For me, it’s very unusual to write a review, since the property, location, and the owner all have a special energy — a pleasant one. However, we travel as a family and we travel a lot as backpackers, so this review reflects our experience and comparison with similar places for people like us. Great key handover with information beforehand. Nicole was helpful with everything. An adorable cat always welcomed us and discreetly tried to sneak into the house. The location was excellent, the rooms were spacious enough, and the living room was functional for use. For us, the location was perfect — close to the night market, beaches, and cafés.

As I mentioned, even within our simplicity we still have our expectations. I missed having nightstands or at least a small table where we could put things. There wasn’t even space for a toiletry bag, since it was too big for the sink and the shelves were already used for clothes. That’s something that can be fixed. And then there are things that the owner probably can’t influence, but they affected our stay — right from the beginning the water pressure in the bathroom was extremely weak, and the shower felt more like dancing between drops. On the last night, the water stopped completely — we couldn’t flush or take a shower… and that’s not what you want when you come back sweaty, salty from the sea, at 10:30 p.m. with nothing you can do. We managed with the garden hose, but even there the water stopped after a few minutes. I don’t know if this can be fixed or not, but if the water had worked, I think there wouldn’t really be much to complain about here.

Stayed there in Papaya house for a week. The owner was super sweet, the garden was lovely, and the house looked very cozy at the first glance. However, it didn’t take long to notice it’s infested by ants. Those tiny monsters were probably living in the walls because it took less than 5 min for them to appear after single drop of watermelon juice was dropped on the table. We were forced to keep all the garbage in the fridge to avoid them. Another unpleasant thing was the smell of urine which at first we thought was due to their cat (she’s the sweetest btw!) living in the area, but later we figured it’s just coming from the bathroom. Some days the smell was stronger, some days it was not that bad, yet it was there. Maybe we were just unlucky, I don’t know. Other than that, we enjoyed our stay - the area is quiet, there are some local restaurants & cafes nearby. The owner was responsive and sweet, tried to help as much as she could, however those issues we faced probably require some more attention.

Beautiful place, great hosts, clean and well equipped.

Loved the nature, the friendly dogs and lovely cats.. waking up by listening to the birds was so grateful. The possibility to directly rent the scooter was a plus.

I liked everything. The location of property is very convenient. The bungalows are cozy. The manager Nicole and other stuff are very freindly.

The House I well and lovely designed. The whole area looks really welcoming. And the owner Nicole is super friendly. Stayed here for 1 week and enjoyed every night. Definitely recommend to stay here!

Very nice little house, stable and good WiFi, equipped with everything you need. I was staying for 2 months and felt very much at home. The hosts are exceptionally friendly, helpful and always available. The location was great - quiet yet central. The little restaurant was great too and I loved their homemade peanut butter!

The bed is a bit too firm for my liking, but I have experienced that all over Thailand. The restaurant closes before dinner time.
