"Would not stay anywhere else in St.Anton"

10.0

We come back time after time with our family. Frau Tinken and her staff make you feel like you have come back home. Service is extremely friendly and family run. The hotel itself was ideally located for us. It is ski in ski out and a 5 min walk into town, which means it is also quiet (the main street in St.Anton can get pretty rowdy). Maybe less ideal if you are there to party, but if you are a family that likes to ski, I can't think of anywhere we would rather stay. It feels in many ways more like a club because it is so friendly that you often get to know other guests. Rooms are large and quiet, clean and comfortable. There is a lovely little bar area for relaxing before (and after) dinner always open for tea and great coffee or something harder - and the food is very good. Breakfast is amazing, afternoon tea wicked with savoury and sweet on offer to tide you over until the 5 course dinner (with some choices each evening) - so not a place to stay if you want to lose weight! Also very reasonably priced.

"A good hotel right on the slopes"

8.0

I stayed at this hotel for one week. It is right on the St Anton piste with excellent ski equipment storage. To start skiing in the morning was a 10 meter walk on the snow, put on skis and then ski down to nearest lift. At the end of the day just ski in and remove skis in the purpose built facilities. The hotel has an underground garage that was built to take about 7 cars, however the owner was obliging and stored more cars - this means the keys needed to be given up so the staff could move cars as required. The rooms were fine with the usual facilities. There is a sauna. The hotel provided half board which was good with a choice, required to be made each morning. The breakfast was good and varied. The evening meal was four courses; if you wanted coffee as well as the desert course, then you would be charged. The staff were very attentive even though they did not have command of the English language. Indeed they were determined to ensure their guests were well served. This will be very novel to those used to the French idea of customer service - a shrug and then distain. I recommend this hotel. It is mostly used by Austrians, Germans and Dutch, so be prepared to converse in German. There are only about 5 park places outside the hotel so ensure you book something with the hotel.

"Summer in St Anton"

10.0

St Anton is renowned for the winter skiing activities. My wife and I needed somewhere for an overnight stop when returning from Italy in July 2015. St Anton was as far as I wanted to drive and, as the Arlberg tunnel was closed for repair works so we had the choice of all the many hotels in St Anton. We chose Hotel Sonnenheim as it was out of the town, quiet and still not far to walk into the town for entertainment. We were shown into the covered car park with a direct lift to the hotel foyer. We were made very welcome by the Family Tienken and were allocated a very comfortable room with full facilities. The bed was so good that my wife decided that our own bed at home was in need of replacement. An evening meal was not on offer as we visited out of skiing season. The short walk down into the town for food was safe, pleasant with excellent views of the area. I cannot fault the hospitality, breakfast and treatment from the owners. It looks as if it is possible to ski straight from the hotel so our next visit will be timed accordingly! Recommended.

"Ski in-out in great surroundings"

10.0

Keep coming back with family, always receive a warm reception from the hotel owners. Great food (with a few different things to choose each day) and easy access to the ski slopes. Town centre is 5-10 minutes walk away. Lovely rooms and facilities. Great hotel.

"Ski in ski out for real"

8.0

Great, genuin Austrian hotel for the family or the couple that have higher demand on food, wine and a homely feel during the stay. Briljant breakfast, almost Scandinavian in its wide spread. A bit weak beer, but it just allows you to have a second one, which is close at hand after a full day skiing.

"welcoming Austrian experience... great value as well"

10.0

I feel exceedingly fortunate to have stumbled on this quaint and lovely hotel, on a last minute decision to stay in StAnton. I highly recommend it and will stay here again if I ever have the chance to return. Hotel decor is simple and nothing fancy, but its exactly the Euro/Austrian atmosphere I was looking for! Rooms were very clean. Bed linens very comfortable. Plenty of storage in the rooms. Dining room bright with many windows. Breakfast buffet was extensive with both hot & cold selections. Dinner menu choices were limited but exceedingly delicious and special requests didn't seem to be a problem. Cozy lounge/bar area. Supposedly a afternoon snack is served, but I never was at the hotel during that time. Staff was exceedingly friendly. Sauna available, but I never used it. Ski room with heated boot storage very convenient. Train station pick up was without extra charge. I think its value priced because its on the far East end of St.Anton so you do have to manage a hill path/road... but being located up the hill, gives you direct slope side access! The walk to the center of St.Anton really isn't too far. Mrs Tienken and their family run a wonderful establishment.

"good location, friendly staff"

8.0

Very good location (ski-in, ski-out, 5 min walk to center, 2 min to arlberg-well) Breakfast buffet was ok, rooms cloud be a bit bigger, towels looks a bit used, toilet paper wasn't soft at all, not what it should be in a 4 star hotel staff very helpful and friendly

"Great ski in ski out and very friendly staff"

8.0

Great location 5 mins walk to town. Consequently very quiet and great ski in and ski out. All staff very friendly and jolly and nothing we asked for was too much - always with a smile. No Tour operators here which is great and good mix of couples and families. Very comfortable and food good. Salad bar and soups great. Healthy and cooked breakfast, again good quality. Good value for money and will come here again.

"Hardly a 2 stars hotel!"

4.0

We stayed in this hotel in January 2012. This is definitely not a 4 star hotel! 1. The Balcony was so dirty we could use it - the floor and the furniture have not been cleaned for a very long time and it was really disgusting 2. One miniature soap for 4 days 3. One miniature shampoo that was never refilled during our stay although it was empty 4. Old and overused towels 5. Scabrous toilet paper which is more suitable for a public toilet than a 4 star hotel 6. Soup that is never warm enough 7. Breakfast which is very far from a "reach breakfast buffet". 8. Cold boiled eggs accompanied by PLASTIC spoons!! 9. "Afternoon snack" that consists of yesterday's leftovers and which reappears on the salad buffet in the evening without even being refilled! 10. Our deal included ski pass - but upon our arrival we had to run back to the ski lifts just before they were closed to buy our ski passes since the hotel does not have the necessary equipment to provide ski passes. 11. The stairs leading to the main entrance of the hotel as well as to the ski room where covered with icy slippery snow which was never removed. etc. etc. Before we decided to come to this hotel we read the critics of previous visitors published on the internet . We thought that the only problem was that the owner does not like children. Is it possible that she doesn't like other guests as well? Maybe it explains why was the hotel almost empty during the whole time we stayed there!

"Very convinient small hotel directly at the slopes"

10.0

Sonnenheim is a very nice hotel very close to the slopes/cable car Galzig Bahn and Nasserein. Also the ski-school Arlberg for all the kids is only 5 to 10 minutes/skiing distance away. The hotel offers a very convinient breakfast and the halfboard also includes "lekker" afternoon cake as well tasty evening diner (several course menue or buffet, but easy-going even with kids). The guests are from all over Europe and the atmosphere is very relaxing. People are here for skiing and enjoying vacation. If you like to get in contact with people, you may, but you are not forced to. Additionally the hotel is in a very quiet area but also in walking distance to "downtown" St.Anton with additional shops etc.
