Aloft by Marriott Savannah Downtown Historic District

We stayed here for three nights. The rooms and beds are comfortable and clean. The hotel is decorated nicely. The staff was excellent, very friendly and helpful. $48 a day for valet parking is a bit steep in my opinion but it’s handy. The only thing I didn’t care for was the bathroom in the room. The door is a curtain. There is a door for the toilet closet, but there is no fan anywhere. The wall between the bathroom and the room has space at the top so there really is no bathroom privacy.

The location was good

The table in the room was in an uncomfortable corner, the room was a bit tight, and the linoleum was detaching from the floor. We stayed 4 nights, and there was no cleaning of the rooms. When we claimed, we were told it was done every other day, but it was never done until the last day, when we asked someone in the hallway to please clean our room. Did not have toilet paper, requested it at the lobby, and was not delivered.

Waited 40 min upon arrival for front desk person. She was in the bathroom -- valet was able to find out after 20 minutes. Called later that evening as I needed an iron for the morning's presentation. No answer. Went down. Front desk unattended. Went back up. Front desk person was riding the same elevator down. She promised an iron. No iron 2 hours later. Sent my daughter down, she came back without an iron -- front desk person ignored her standing there with her request, while on the phone. Turned her back and walked away. Called again. "We're a steam hotel was the reply." "Is there an iron in the building I can borrow tonight?" was my request. Finally got an iron, but yikes -- Aloft Downtown Savannah would be helped mightily if they vetted the front desk personnel for people who might enjoy the job. The valet person was extremely helpful, kind and pleasant, so it's possible.

Our stay was enjoyable until the last night. There was a private party on the patio, and my daughter and I were unable to sleep because of the loud music and noise that continued until around 5:00 a.m. Afterward, several people moved into a room where the loud music continued. At one point, we could also hear people arguing in the hallway. As a result, we barely got any sleep before having to wake up early and drive four hours home. It was a very disappointing end to what had otherwise been a pleasant stay. As someone who manages a property myself, I understand that situations like this can happen, but they should be monitored and addressed promptly to ensure all guests can enjoy a quiet and restful stay.

The rooms were wonderful. There was plenty of kid friendly activities at the hotel. We had the best stay. And the location and the price were wonderful! The front desk staff were so accommodating and friendly, could not have been better. Desha was the best! She was so helpful and friendly!
