Lazy U Motel

So the first time I stayed I was put in a very clean room and felt safe. This was my second stay and theanager apparently quit and left. I got a not so clean room, fridge was old and had broken parts, and the carpet was super nasty. I saw people going to a room for 5 minutes and leaving. There were 5 broke down vehicles in the lot. I do not think I will be staying there again!!

Don't try to stay here!! Thats all!!

Great motel and owner - Troy. I picked the Lazy U based on reviews and it didn’t disappoint. The mattresses are brand new! Clean rooms, microwave, fridge and the cable works. Stayed 1 night on trip and checked back in on trip home. The owner Troy went the extra mile to make sure both stays were great!! Thank you Joel from Colorado

The property manager was awesome! I think he need to become a Standup Comedian.

We have been staying at this hotel for years when it was under Cindy and Verlyn's watch. It was a wonderful experience then, as they were very conscientious and kept the rooms clean. There was always coffee and rolls available at the desk and they were almost always available if you needed them. Not anymore! First off, the desk is closed, and you have to call if you need to check in or out or need him for anything. Secondly, when we checked in, the room still had food in the fridge and there was trash on the floor under the table. The last straw was not getting our $200 deposit refunded until I called two weeks later to let them know it wasn't on my bank statement. He took care of it right away and apologized, but after everything else, we'll never stay there again. It's too bad, as it was a nice place to stay and a great price.

Location on Mt. Rushmore Rd. (US 16) is convenient to many useful businesses like Perkins, Safeway, MacDonald's, Walgreens, and numerous gas stations. The street itself is very noisy and quite busy, though the room itself is remarkably shielded from the noise. All the handles in the bathroom are marginal in some way, including the door and we almost felt like we could lock ourselves into the bathroom if we shut the door all the way. However, we could make everything work. There is no coffee-maker, but the microwave works well if you have something in which to heat water. Refrigerator works well. Many people who patronize the motel seem to be smokers, so there are little buckets and a chair outside the rooms for people to smoke and extinguish the butts. Depending on the luck of the draw, you can get smoke smell in the room if you have the window open. Probably best to keep the window closed and use the AC/heater, which worked well and was blessedly quiet. TV is small but has good range of channels, located a long ways from the chairs you would sit in to watch. TV sits on top of a useful chest of drawers. Parking is well-organized if tight to get in and out. This is an urban motel and fits into the space available in this part of Rapid City. You have to call for check-in, etc., but this worked fine. Somewhat disappointed that towels were partially replenished and trash emptied one day but not the next. All in all, recommended at the price.

Grocery store across the street, restaurant next door, neighborhood to walk in and parking right in front of our room. Meyer was very helpful in helping me clean up when I spilled my morning shake on my white pants. Thought I'd throw them away but he was able to get the stain completely out. The bed was comfortable, the bathroom was clean with nice white towels and the shower water pressure was good and strong. No coffee maker in the list of amenities but when I asked for one it was placed in our room before we arrived. I'd stay here again on a return visit.

I needed a place to stay for one night before a family reunion in the Hills. This looked like a good value in a good location. Check in was quick and the clerk was friendly. The room was clean and spacious. There was a refrigerator and a table with two chairs. The bathroom was on the smaller side but the shower worked well. There was coffee available in the morning as well as baskets of bananas and granola bars. I woke up pretty early and walked one parking lot over to Perkins for early coffee. There’s a Safeway across the street, and downtown is only a few minutes away. There’s a decent washer and dryer available for use as well. It’s a fairly busy road but the traffic noise was minimal at nighttime. It was a good value for the price and I wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again.

The room was fine but very dark. Only one light was connected to an outlet and the window was very small. Other than that, the room was as expected.

The bathroom was very small but I found the room to be clean and comfortable. I had everything I needed. A Perkins right next door was very convenient.
