Nice place but inconsistent if you plane to stay more than once. Deposit not returned my second stay.

mould everywhere, pool closed for maintenance, no offer of refund, smelly room, smelly musky bathroom, non smoking rooms are not non smoking

This hostel appears unclean, unsafe and poorly managed. There seems to be no front desk and no signage, just partitioned rooms inside individual apartments. I find it hard to beleive this place is legal. I was unable to check in between 3pm and 6pm and so called ahead to arrange a later check in. I was told I would be sent instructions around 6pm. A text message told me that I would have to wait until someone else came through the security doors to be able to sneak in and was given instructions to find keys and a security fob in a lockbox, inside an open letterbox. The room was one of six very small spaces inside a small apartment. Each space is seperated by thin walls that allow you to hear even quiet conversations in other rooms and a flimsy internal door with the simplest of locks. The shared bathroom was dirty and shabby. The bedroom was very small. I did not have a tape measure but I would be surprised if the room met the minimum of 7.4 square meters - the required size of a single person hotel room in Australian legislation. I was not comfortable leaving my belongings in this dodgy place behind a flimsy door for any lenght of time, let alone stay here. It was after 6pm on a Friday night and I had an appointment to get to so I found somewhere else to stay as quickly as possible. I made a request through Lastminute for a refund and was told that the owner denied this. I will be forwarding my complaints to Consumer Affairs Victoria.

Location was central CBD easy to southern cross station. The staff was very friendly let us checked in early. The bed was soft and comfortable with 4 pillows and two towels. Place very clean and with a kitchen and washer. Prices are awesome, if stay the same, will book again!

While the room presented really well, towards the end of the night our room was infested from the vents with strong cigarette smoke, so bad it stung my eyes and caused an asthma attack in my husband. We called the manager who told us that the apartment was non smoking, so we should just "knock on doors and ask the person to stop". At 9.45pm the smoke was immediately replaced by pot smoke. Overall, not a fun night.

Room and bed was clean and comfortable, but the bathroom was disgusting with parts of the wall peeling and just general dirt. We did a late check in and we're told to get in to the building we had to just wait for someone to either go in or out so we could enter the door with them. We got lucky in that someone was in the lobby at the same time and we waved at them and they opened the door, but I can imagine if you're getting there late at night you might have some trouble just entering the building as it requires someone else to be here which may not always be the case. Going about getting our deposit back was also hard as I had to call them 3 times to request it as they hadn't told us how we'd get our deposit back, and when you leave the building there's nobody there.
