Hampton Inn Denver West Federal Center

The room was decent, and the breakfast was pretty good. They had a variety of hot foods and cold during our 6-day stay, so it wasn't exactly the same thing every morning. However, of the 5 days that we left in the morning and returned at night, housekeeping only tidied the room twice. We had the Do Not Disturb sign out the first day, but then on the remaining four days, they only came in to tidy and refresh the towels twice (for a family of four). And even then, they didn't refill the shampoo in the shower, so we had to ask at the front desk for shampoo and toilet paper. It was a decent stay, but we would not return based on the lack of service.

The exceptional responsive staff, open and friendly.

One elevator was down and the other was up/down several times during our stay. My wife in a wheelchair made it scary being on the 3rd floor. Upper management needs to take this VERY seriously and fix the problem. For a 6 floor facility, this is a disaster waiting to happen.

Unbeknownst to me until after I checked into my room, this hotel is transitioning from a Hampton Inn to a "Spark" hotel--still owned by Hilton. That explains why the room had hardwood floors and very simple, minimalist furniture. A pleasant surprise was an extra large T.V. (60-inch+ ?). Overall, the room was very clean, modern and tastefully decorated. However, it had no area rug, leaving a "cold" feeling to the room. The online T.V. channel guide was incomplete, forcing channel "surfing" to see what was on. Also, most important, the shower had extremely weak water flow/pressure. The morning continental breakfast was mediocre. Given these "pluses" and "minuses", the room may still be a good value (cost-wise), OTHER than for the weak shower. Because of that (and not liking hardwood floors), I will not plan to stay here again. As a former Hilton Diamond member (now Gold), I've seen a lot of Hilton hotels. Hilton's new line of Spark hotels may bring in the budget-conscious traveler, but I will continue to opt for the nicer Hampton Inn and Hilton Garden hotels. One more thing--I may stop writing reviews (other than for extremely poor or good hotels) as I'm not convinced Hilton really appreciates them or takes any corrective actions. (I know this in part after having re-visited some hotels in which nothing seems to have changed.) However, I hope any reviews I've done, or very selectively will do in the future, will help travelers in their hotel choice.
