Hawthorn Extended Stay by Wyndham Chambersburg

The staff was great. I have a few complaints. I was charged a 100.00 deposit fee when I checked into the hotel and didn’t realize it till the next . Our last morning at our room there was a cockroach in our bathroom. Those are my only main complaints. The room was clean and the bed was comfortable.

Room was not cleaned for four days! had to ask for sheets and towels. Towels were replaced but the trash was not empty. At one point we had to buy toilet paper because it was not replaced. Staff was not interested in our comments I was told we need to ask for the rooms to be clean due to COVID - would of though they would clean more often due to COVID. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone, I've stayed at many hotel's and never had to ask for the room to be clean, Called to complaint but that fell on death ears NO call backs and we did not received a discount still paid full price for Services Not Render. Still waiting for a call back! Pool was not working, Exercise Room was not Marked as such Only one treadmill working, bike had foot strap broken. At one time I had to use a plunger for the toilet after I requested someone check the toilet. TERRIBLE

It was extremely short notice. Everything was either booked or unacceptable for wheelchair navigation, {NOTE Red Roof Inn in Chbg PA, has horrible staff, terribly rude & condescending workers and no elevator so no access to upper levels}....... which is why I had to choose somewhere else. Downside of the room at Cburg Inn & Suites: Clean the rooms (Items ->ice bucket- filthy and a/c broken/damaged) Get rid of the roaches -- stayed semi-awake and killed 2 They Don't Offer breakfast No trash bags Needs updating - Reminds me of a 'Bate's Motel' or 'The Shining' from the 80's. Upside at Cburg Inn & Suites: Accommodating - especially for power wheelchairs (elevator & large rooms) Staff - very polite and helpful Received a small discount, due to the roaches There's a 'Diner-type' restaurant attached to the building, but it's not part of the hotel. Open from 6am - 9:30pm so that's convenient. (It also needs updated.) Overall I am grateful to God that I had something after searching for almost 2 hours. However, I'm just not comfortable staying there again.

The room wasn’t very clean. I found a chicken tender, earrings, and candy just laying on the floor. The shower handle kept coming off and the toilet wouldn’t flush. The pillows and bed were not comfortable.

I booked the room especially because it had a pool. I could have stayed much closer to our family party but thought the pool would be great for our 4yo son. It was not open no notice of that and the coffee machine in lobby was broken. My door room 206 would not lock and was told sorry there are no other rooms to move you to. In the morning we were planning on having breakfast brought up to our large suite but I saw a roach crawling on the wall and no longer wanted to eat there. I had 2 rooms there and planned to enjoy the amenities but there were none

The Trogan Diner was great, but the hotel was very dated and smelled extremely bad. I had to change rooms twice before there was a sort of acceptabe solution.

The front desk staff was friendly.

Stayed overnight for local HS graduation. No other local hotels had availability. Upon arrival room tried to put me in a regular room rather than a suite. Took 25 minutes to check-in. Room was subpar for normal standards never mind IHG. Reeked of cleaning sprays, probably covering up other bad smells. Fridge wasn’t working so it was replaced by mini-fridge that also did not work. Fire alarm started chirping at 12:30am. Called from desk. He wouldn’t leave the front desk, instead directed I remove the battery. Did that, didn’t correct problem. Had me move to another room. Again, he wouldn’t leave front desk. I actually had to move rooms at 1am. New room, although not a suite was much nicer. In the morning upon checkout I tried to talk to the day person at the desk. She said she has no authority to talk safety issues or payment. I was concerned about the covering on the one fire alarm that was still attached to its base. She put a note in for management. Called back on Tuesday leaving a message. No return call. Even submitted a form to IHG corporate with no response. I’m really concerned this hotel is UNSAFE and would actually advise people to not stay.

Even though hallways needed upgrades and cleaning, the room was newly renovated, comfortable, clean and quiet. Will book again in future.
