Pleasant place to stay! Very nice location with fun activities for kids and adults. Staff very helpful and friendly. Did not expect to be awoken by turkeys outside my door but gave it that glamping flair!!

The absolute best hotel, best staff and experience. My 6yr old daughter had the time of her life. There is a long list of activities to choose from. If you don’t want to do an activity you can spend your entire day at River Ranch.

My wife and I recently stayed at Carmel Valley Ranch following our wedding and we had an absolutely incredible time! We were riding the high of being newlyweds and everyone at CVR made us feel so welcomed and special. The staff at CVR are some of the kindest folks we’ve ever met at a hotel/resort and I can confidently say that this experience would not have been as magical without them. We’d like to shoutout a few people who made our stay special. - Jackson at the front desk who always provided a warm and kind start to the day. - Carly who went above and beyond to constantly make us feel like the most special couple on earth - Manuel, Emma, and Mata who not only make great drinks, but took the time to have wonderful and meaningful conversations. - Jeff and Andy who gave us some awesome recommendations of things to do and helped make the trip feel like a true adventure - Andrew the chef who makes a delicious tomahawk and was nice enough to come greet us after the meal - Ismael and Anthony who provided excellent service and kind words during our meals at Valley Kitchen - Jordan who helped with reservation adjustments (to extend our stay!) and winery recs. - Saša the team leader who helped make our last night’s dinner extraordinary! We stayed at Carmel Valley Ranch for one night in March and initially had a very positive impression of the property. The resort is beautiful and peaceful, and before this incident we had even discussed returning in the future with our family. Unfortunately, something happened during our stay that raised concerns about guest room security. On the morning of checkout, we had a confirmed 4:00 PM late checkout. We left the room around 10:40 AM to enjoy the resort and briefly returned around 1:40 PM to change clothes before heading out again. When we came back around 2:40 PM, we discovered that several of our personal items had been removed from the room. Snacks that had been on the table were missing, bottled water stored in a wine bag was gone, and two food containers that had been inside the refrigerator had disappeared. The ice pad from the refrigerator had also been taken out and placed on the table, suggesting that the refrigerator had been opened and our belongings handled. We reported the situation to the hotel staff immediately. We were told that the hotel would investigate and that we would receive a follow-up call. However, several days later we still have not received any update regarding the investigation. The financial value of the missing items is small. Our main concern is how personal belongings could have been accessed while the room was still occupied and we had a confirmed late checkout. Carmel Valley Ranch is a beautiful resort, but the lack of follow-up and the uncertainty around room access left us disappointed with how the situation was handled.

Driving up the winding road at Carmel Valley Ranch is half the experience - you pass the gardens, the beehives, and land on a sweeping view of the valley. The rooms expensive but they’re also really large for the region, and include a large living room area. There are a variety of programs but they depend on the time of year and can fluctuate in number significantly (I’ve stayed there 6 times). Kids activities such as beekeeping or garden tour fill up quickly. The gorgeous infinity pool you see behind the reception desk is adults only! The kids pool is located at the very bottom of the hill, and is very popular, so get there a bit earlier if you want a seat.
