Wyndham Costa del Sol Arequipa

It has a great potential, surrounded by beautiful gardens

Stayed 2 nights at Wyndham Costa del Sol Arequipa and honestly it was disappointing. The hotel feels old and not well maintained. The pool was dirty and the water was cold, so not enjoyable at all. In general, the place needs a serious refresh. Service was not great either. Staff were not welcoming and not very helpful, I never really felt comfortable there. At breakfast, service was slow — I got my coffee when I had already finished eating. Also, if you want something simple like an omelette, you have to pay extra, which is a bit much. The room had a bad smell, like an old basement, which made it unpleasant to stay in. We were 3 people (including a child) and they only left 2 towels and 2 bottles of water. When I asked for one more bottle, they told me to take it from the minibar… of course overpriced. The hotel has non smoking policy, which I can understand that rooms and in side area were non smoking. But what a surprise, you can’t even smoke in the bar outside. We don’t smoke cigarettes, but my husband enjoys cigar to relax when on vacation. What a disappointment for him ( extra for me as I have reserved the hotel). The reply from the receptionist when we asked was : Yes, I know it’s hard, I smoke too!!!! So we enjoyed the rooftops in city instead staying at the hotel. Location is about a 10-minute walk from the center, but the area doesn’t feel very safe, especially compared to staying directly in the center. After going out, we found much nicer hotels and restaurants there, many with rooftops and great views. Also, I’ve seen reviews from last year mentioning the exact same issues, so I don’t really want a standard reply from the hotel saying they will improve — clearly nothing has changed. Overall, not worth it, even for a short stay. I would recommend staying in the city center instead.

Lots of green around the hotel and worth getting a garden view room. Breakfast was excellent. Staff were very attentive and friendly, offering help where they could. Great facilities overall. It is not right in the center but we knew that and made that choice. One of the porters was amazing ( cannot remember his name). We had to get a doctor, which reception helped with and he was helping with language, sorting taxi and just being very friendly.

The rooms do not have a kettle. Instead they have a nespresso machine and people are told to use that without a pod for hot water. They provide single use throwaway plastic cups in the rooms instead of standard cups, which is a major dissapointment. For a 5 star hotel this is a bit of a letdown

Nous avons passé un super séjour, l’endroit est idéale pour un bon repos dans un super cadre, parc arboré magnifique.Un super accueil, l’ensemble du personnel est très aimable et serviable. Les chambres sont très confortable et les petits déjeuners sont très bons.
