Homewood Suites by Hilton Dulles Int'l Airport

The pool and breakfasts were big hits with our kids. We had an issue with our bathroom that took a while for staff to resolve (almost 24 hrs) but they worked to make it right with us, which we appreciated! We’d stay here again as it’s very convenient for families.

I will be staying again!

1 bedroom suite was spacious and what we needed for my family of 5. The location and area was excellent. The hotel staff were friendly and professional. I will definitely be returning to this Hilton property when I stay in DC. The drive to the city was short and quick.

1- The room didn't smell fresh despite my call and message -before arriving- stating that my kids have sever allergy to dust and mold. 2-The shower head was not clean and the bathroom has No fan, disgusting! 3- The room was too small for 6 people. 4- When we shared our discomfort with the staff and asked to change the room, they gave us a hard time. They moved us to another room that is very much the same. 5- We've been Expedia valued customers for long time, and we mostly stay at one of the (Hilton) hotels. Over the years and within many locations, this property -by far- was the least!

Was skeptical due to reviews re: cleanliness and condition. We usually stay at Embassy, but for nights we needed the price was double. I called and was assured rooms were renovated, I made the reservation asking for reno. room. Upon arrival I again asked for reno room & was told they've all been done. I went to the room, inspecting bathroom, bedding, floors etc....Room was clean and had been updated, shower looked new, no mold. I will say there were some paint splatters on floor, a cpl marks on door, but that can happen the day after work is done. Kitchen decently supplied for 2 travelers, including can opener- also kitchen appliances all clean. Xtra sheets/blankets for pull out, if needed. Room was on back side and quiet. All employees I ran into were friendly. My only concern would be regarding breakfast. Hours are 6-9am during week. 2 of our 3 days at our 8am arrival a few items were empty & not replenished the half hour we were there ie fruit, muffins, juice, water. Basic pre-made breakfast which is fine, but if serving til 9 then items need to be available. Perhaps back-up prepped and ready to refill as needed. I understand if all goes out at once, ppl tend to over-serve. And more guests came after us to eat breakfast, I also believe breakfast area furniture could use a redo. Was pleasantly surprised to see nice outdoor patio area to sit. Seeing the renovation of the room here wants me to notify Embassy they're now do for a redo, they're rooms are worn compared to Homewood. The only benefit to Embassy is fresh cooked breakfast, but for 150/night vs 290, it's not that special. I'm not sure why there are other posts within the past 6 months of poor conditions at Homewood, unless all the reno. wasn't completed then. This will be our new Herndon place to stay as long as it remains as is. Thank you for a great experience.

Everything was great! A home away from home in the 1 bedroom suite! Pool was nice. A hot tub would have made it perfect! Breakfast was filled with lots of choices! Enjoyed having actual plates and bowls! Highly recommended!

Found several hairs on the super uncomfortable bed. Sofa bed was dirty with some food crumbs on it. At one point, a hotel maid simply used her access card to let herself in without announcement while we were in the room! Bad experience overall.

We had booked a suite that said it accommodated 7, but only had 2 beds plus the pull-out sofa. We asked where the 7th bed was, expecting a roll-away or something, but they no longer have those, so they comped us a king suite around the corner without any trouble. Worked out well for us b/c the suites only have dishes for 4 so it doubled that and the beds in the suite we got were fulls, not queens, so we were prepared for a tighter squeeze overnight and then had more room to spread out over the 2 suites. The breakfast was good but the dining area was frigid, but that's to be expected with super low temps and the lobby doors opening repeatedly. The king suite was warm, but the other was a little chilly no matter what we set the temp at (it was by the 1st floor exit). Word to the wise- the suites have stoves as stated, but no OVENS. We had brought frozen pizzas to cook and ended up having to nuke them...not the most pleasant way to prepare them.

Homewood Dulles Airport, IAD, is a 15-minute drive from the airport and has a courtesy shuttle. However, you need to confirm with reception before catching it. The hotel is modern and has a nice lobby area with a good breakfast offering. The ground floor also has a small gym and a pool. Sadly, there are no restaurants around the hotel, so it's order takeaway or a 10-minute drive to the closest outlets. The rooms are a good size, and have full kitchens if you fancy cooking. A nice location to explore DC.

I have stayed in lots of Homewood Suites, in lots of airport hotels, and in lots of similar properties. Normally, you get what you expect to get. A basic room with decent amenities. Nothing special. But this place was a disappointment on nearly every level. The carpets in our room were so torn and tattered that you could see the subfloor beneath it. Also, the carpets had huge stains on them. The toilet had huge black marks inside it that were caused by who knows what. There was no hot water on our second day in the room. The beds were the least comfortable that I have ever encountered in any Hilton property. The pillows were like bricks. The upholstery on the sofa and chair were stained, frayed, and had actual holes in the fabric. Not to mention that the sofa seemed to have lost its springs and was basically like sitting in a hole. Only positives: room was ready early upon request and the business center was quiet and comfortable. Avoid this hotel...it is in serious need of an upgrade in every area.
