Homewood Suites by Hilton Durham-Chapel Hill / I-40

The computers were down as soon as we entered the hotel. That was very inconvenient, but hotel staff were amazing given the circumstance.

OK, I'll start with the good - The employees, if you could find any, were very pleasant and nice! The bad: - You couldn't find any employees. Nobody worked the front desk during our entire stay. There was a note permanently on the desk saying they had stepped away, all the time. No bell or instructions on how to find them. You just have to stand there like an idiot until they decided to poke their head out of a back office. - The other note on the front desk tells you that they will actually be charging you "more" for parking than their web page advertises. I don't think any Homewood Suites should be charging for parking at all, but this is called bait and switch when you advertise one rate, but charge another. - They tell you their breakfast goes until 10:00 am, but they cleared out all the food by 9:45 am. I went up to grab a waffle, but couldn't because one of their employees was making themselves a waffle and when I came back to try again, they had closed down all the breakfast area early. The only good thing about this is that the food was pretty sketch, and we probably shouldn't have been eating any of it anyway. The eggs looked like liquid egg whites with some yellow food coloring squirted on them to look like yolks and nothing was kept to temp. Several of the chairs in the seating area honestly had more stains than pattern showing. Simply gross. There are some very nice Hilton locations and then there are some very ghetto Hilton locations. This is definitely the latter! If that is the type of hotel experience you like, you will be very happy here!

I really loved that the suite not only had a kitchenette but also a full size balcony that allowed us to step out and enjoy fresh air. The room was very spacious with 2 large tvs and a nice bathroom. Breakfast is served daily and I enjoyed the options provided.

Cleanliness

The rooms were clean and comfortable. Breakfast was delicious. Overall feel was cozy and relaxed.

Good location and friendly staff.

Beds aren't the most comfortable (got a room with 2 double beds). Last time we got a room with a king size it was a better mattress. Vacuuming by the housekeeper could be better. The women working at the breakfast buffet were miserable. Ladies at the check in counter were friendly and helpful.

My family stayed in a 2-bedroom suite at a great value rate. Very comfortable and breakfast was included. Can’t beat that!
