Our visit coincided with a patch of extremely variable weather, which suits me just fine! I love weather! I could see the weather arriving, leaving and all stages in between! :-) I actually booked the accommodation to allow my son and I to weather the expected storm prior to going camping at Kapowairua. We went on a tiki tour on one day, heading east to Taupo Bay, Matauri Bay, etc and looped around back through Whangaroa - all very enjoyable. Another day, I watched the weather, focusing on St Paul's Rock and timing our approach to perfection, drove to, climbed, descended and returned from during a beautifully clear (locally) period. I must add, the accommodation, facilities, etc, were absolutely fine. I apologise to the owners/service management, as campers, we are not very demanding and I am not super judgemental. All I can say is that nothing bad happened. :-) That's a good thing, right?! :-)

My wife and I decided to stay at the Coastal Chalets because of its remoteness and proximity to the far north. We found the place beautifully maintained, with a lot of privacy, quiet and beautiful scenery. We were in Suite C. It was spacious with a luxurious shower, full kitchen, bbq, spa pool and other amenities. We found it was a perfect spot for a romantic get-away. They're also a stone's throw to some truly excellent Indian food ("Spice Grill" in nearby Kaeo). Great place for dinner if you don't feel like cooking. We also found the manager was very responsive to the couple of questions we had. Highly recommended!

The location is amazing. Quiet and peaceful surrounds, close to great beaches and walks to explore. Suite A was perfect for our group of 8. We loved the large deck and spa. Would happily stay again.
