Kamoya Ryokan

We arrived at night and our key was ready on the counter. The room was clean and ready for us with two futons and pillows and a small table, a TV and A/C. The bathroom was equipped with shampoo and soap and the hot water was plentiful. The lobby had hair dryers, tea and other necessities. The owner greeted us and was very friendly. It was a nice and simple experience of a ryokan in Japan.

Our previous hotel was a mile down the road but because we were not familiar with public transportation we walked to the ryokan with all of our luggage in the dark. We were able to catch a city bus back to the Kyoto train station in the morning for 240 yen. I would have liked a later check out than 10am. It did not leave us much time to explore the area for breakfast before having to leave so we just left. I was asked to pay an additional 400 yen for a room tax on top of the already high-priced stay. The room was very simple and quiet and met our needs for a night's sleep. It was very expensive for the brief experience.

Einfache Unterkunft an ruhiger und recht zentraler Lage. Der Gastgeber ist sehr nett und hilfsbereit. Sehr gutes Preis-/Laistungsverhältnis.

Das Schlafen auf den sehr dünnen Futon-Matratzen ist gewöhnungsbedürftig. Uns allen schmerzte nach jeder Nacht der Körper.

Ryokan situé dans un quartier agréable, chambre à la Japonaise - tatami et futon, propriétaire sympathique.

Quartier certes agréable mais un peu trop isolé - peu de restaurants et de transports à proximité, chambre un peu sombre et vue peu dégagée.

Very close to National Museum and Temples. Easy Check-in and check-out. Bright room.
