The Yard Hostel

The hostel is so nice and affordable. The double bedroom was comfortable and the common areas were very well decorated and maintained.

Some of the staff were not friendly. There were a few that were very kind (especially the one that checked us in!), but we had a very disappointing experience when our food was taken and eaten or thrown out from the fridge despite following the instructions they ask for. When I asked the receptionist about it, she became defensive and deflected to the cleaner. The cleaner did the same and told me to talk to the receptionist. Nobody apologized or tried to make it right whatsoever, even a gesture like a free drink- just a sympathetic response instead of defense.

Hostel Jest naprawdę bardzo zadbany i czysty, osobne łazienki dla pań i panów co sprawia ze pobyt jest mega komfortowy. Super przestrzeń wspólna i bar który działa do północy. Bardzo miły personel.

Easy access and secure gates. Has a bar open till 12.00. Nice retro decor. Outside seating. Large clean kitchen. Clean and secure. Friendly staff. Enjoyed stay. Great location at north end of main centre and was able to walk to everywhere. Alibis from airport stopped next street, so easy and €4. Bus 3 mins to central train /intercity bus station, plus to the centre of town (but this easily walkable 10 mins/flat).

Late noise a couple of nights, noise made by outside visitors visiting venue, one night after midnight till 1.30 am (a birthday party by external visitors repeatedly singing happy birthday, and loud talking) plus one other night till 1am, impacts travellers getting up early following morning trying to sleep in room located above social lounge so bring ear-muffs or plug in music to sleep. This was only factor and was not a major issue but might impact some people travelling. Other nights all closed and quiet after 11.

De todos los hostels en los que me quedé en mi viaje, este es el mejor preparado de todos para recibir a los huéspedes. Tiene atención casi 24 horas y cuenta con varios espacios comunes independientes y lo suficientemente alejados para poder estar haciendo lo que uno quiera en uno sin molestar a nadie. El staff, súper amigable, me permitió guardar mi equipaje antes de mi check-in y después de mi check-out (además de dejarme ducharme luego de mi check-out). Tienen un servicio de lavandería a solo €5. Las habitaciones son espaciosas, con suficiente distancia entre camas y cortinas para mayor privacidad. Fui en abril así que no tuve problema ni de frío ni de calor. Los baños, fuera de las habitaciones y divididos por género, tienen 3 duchas espectaculares, 3 cubículos y 3 lavamanos. También muy espaciosos. La limpieza me pareció excelente y vi de primera mano a la chica que se encargaba de ello llegar puntual y limpiar profundamente. La cocina también re bien equipada. Había leído en las reseñas que el bar era un problema por el ruido y la gente, pero en los días que estuve yo casi no hubo movida, así que no fue un tema para mí. Recomendadísimo.

En cuanto a la ubicación, queda pasando el final de la calle principal de Catania y lejos de las estaciones de tren y colectivo, pero no fue mucha molestia. Es más un problema de que me pareció hostil para caminar la ciudad que del hostel en sí.
