Al Bustan Palace, a Ritz-Carlton Hotel

The location, the facilities and the hospitality, one of the best resorts in Muscat if not the best.

It was very hard contacting the hotel to arrange for early check-in, had to call them over 2 days and everytime they mentioned they will get back to me and never did, I had to email them and still didnt get a solid response

Le vrai coup de coeur de cet hôtel, c'est l'extérieur. Un grand parc très bien aménagé, de belles piscines, un panorama à couper le souffle. On se sent vraiment dépaysé, et c'était l'objectif premier de ces vacances. Rien que pour ce point, je le recommande à 100%. Le hall d'entrée aussi, spectaculaire. on a tous eu un effet Woaouw. Tout le staff était au petit soin et le petit déjeuner était très gourmand. Même les viennoiseries/pâtisserie étaient succulentes ! Même les restaurants sont bons, avec une mention spéciale pour celui qui est au bord de la mer. Enfin, un espace kids pool très sympa avec des toboggans, des jeux d'eau et un parc, un pure moment de récréation pour les enfants !

Le kids club est un peu limité, si l'on compare au premier hôtel dans lequel nous avons été à Muscat. Il est petit, aménagé seulement d'une ou 2 petites tables pour coloriage, quelques activités moyennement fun pour les enfants, une coupure entre midi... Bref, ce point est selon moi à améliorer s'il veut se calquer sur le standing du site. Notre grosse déception c'est le buffet du soir. Malheureusement nous sommes allés à Oman pendant la période du Ramadan. Alors que le premier hôtel dans lequel nous étions avait gardé une grande variété au niveau du buffet pour resté adapté à la clientèle de tourisme, le Ritz Carlton, lui, proposait exclusivement un buffet de plats traditionnels pendant toute la période de Ramadan, donc toute la période de notre séjour. Peu de variété, puis surtout très très répétitif tous les soirs. Déception particulière car nous avions vu le programme de base, avec des soirées à thème tous les soirs. Aussi, la plage n'est pas vraiment aménagée. Enfin, les chambres étaient jolies mais pas forcément au niveau du standing de l'hôtel

I first stayed at the Al Bustan Palace in 2006 before it was a Ritz property and really wanted to go back to Oman to check it out. I took the family with kid, mum and grandmother this time and it didnt disappoint. Infact they exceeded my expectations. Everyone loved the place. Its been very noticeable since COVID that luxury hotels globally have gone down in luxury service and value. A lot of 5 star / luxury hotels are, now trying to please everybody with very high price points. Which is obviously the opposite of luxury. The Al Bustan Palace is a rare exception these days. The Ritz have kept the luxury vibe of the previous operator. Its old school old money luxury but with modern conveniences. A perfect balance. Our Christmas Dinner at the beach was sensational. The rooms are great but i would advise to go for the bigger rooms / suites if youre a family. Bathrooms incredible. Simple and luxurious, not complicated and annoying. The breakfast is amazing! Every day Ali one of the servers, without asking brought the family traditional Omani breakfast side dishes for us to try, explaining every ingredient, he is a star! it is details like this that i appreciate as luxury. My phone broke on day 2 and the manager organized a car to take me to a repair shop with a 3 hour tunaround door to door return AMAZING! The restaurant offerings, the swimming area, the management, the staff from lobby to housekeeping are top notch. It is VERY noticeable that they all have great training and lot of experience. A breathe of fresh air. I made a comment to my family before we left that sums this place up pefectly. "I could actually live here for a good portion of the year." Definitely going back. It's sneakily become one of my favorite places in the World. Love it!
