Drinkarna var bedrövliga i baren. Ingen höjdare.

Ett stenkast från havet!

Restaurangen var inte det bästa. Personalen hade dålig koll på menyn och det var svårt att kommunicera med de.

Det eneste vi likte var allsangen om kvelden.

Det var elendig og møkkete. Muggsopp som luktet grusomt. Vi orket ikke å bruke hverken dyne eller pute. Tror ikke det var rengjort på rommene. Sengetøyet som vi kundene skal bruke MÅ kastes og erstattes med nytt. Personalet var lite imøtekommende og uerfarne.

Vi hade ett (litet) rum med våningssäng och handfat. Toalett och dusch i korridoren (helt OK). Frukosten helt OK. Vi åt inte middag där så den delen kan vi inte kommentera. Nära till havet, minigolf, trevligt café, annan restaurang och campingplats med pizzeria.

Av okänd och helt onödig anledning hade sängarnas överkast stoppats ner runt madrassen vilket gjorde det svårt att lossa överkastet så att vi kunde bädda med de bifogade lakanen. Stegen upp till överslafen var ingen lek för oss 50+. Den lutade ganska brant och det var halvrunda pinnar att sätta fötterna på (istället för plana plankor) vilket inte bidrog. Rummen med våningssängar är inte för alla. De lämpar sig bäst för unga och smidiga, inte så långa personer.

Ligger bra vid stranden.

Frukosten var torftig, rummet var rent men ventilationen obefintlig så det blev fuktigt och luktade instängt. Gemensamma duschar med svartmögel i draperierna. Har bott bättre för en femtedel av priset på andra ställen.

Very nice staff, offering some extra vegan spreads, plant-based milk (it was not available on the first day, but the staff apologised, mistakes can happen) and plant-based yoghurt for breakfast, also decent coffee. Everyone was kind and helpful. The surroundings are fantastic - direct access to the beach and a beautiful forest. There is a lovely open seat area to have a picnic or read a book. There is also vegan ice cream. Buses to e. g. Ystad city centre are not that frequent, so it helps to use the Skanetrafiken app to plan your journey - it's possible to walk to Ystad by foot, but takes a bit long.

The price/quality ratio was disappointing, I paid a hotel price for a place that seemed to me more like a vandrarhem/hostel. Partly, this may be because Ystad seems to be an expensive city in general, so Ystads kommun would maybe be able to do something about this. I do suspect that Ystads kommun demands high fees for hotels, and I understand that at least 50% of this problem is likely not Beach House's fault. For the price of a hotel, I would expect a made bed, but you get handed the sheets and have to make the bed yourself. I did not use the central heating because the curtains are touching the heating element (maybe cut them?), and I did not want to fall asleep with a fire risk next to my bed. It was cold, there were only sheets, no warm blanket, so I slept in my full clothes, with trousers and my jacket, as I was unprepared... The room was pretty dark, and I realised I need more daylight than that in my room to be happy. In theory, it is possible to use the washing machine for free, but it was always occupied, so I gave up in the end and took my clothes to a washing service provider in Ystad, who did a great job. It would surely be helpful to introduce a system where you can book washing times (and remind people to also actually take out the clothes when they are ready). If I visit again, I might avoid Ystad altogether and see if I can find an alternative with more reasonable pricing in a smaller city / village in the vicinity.
